Covid Update: India crosses Significant Milestones<\/span><\/h1>\n

New Delhi, October 20<\/p>\n

India has leaped across several significant milestones in its fight against COVID.<\/p>\n

The new confirmed cases in the last 24 hours have\u00a0fallen below 50,000 (46,790)<\/strong>\u00a0for the first time in nearly three months. The new cases were\u00a047,703<\/strong>\u00a0on 28th<\/sup>\u00a0July.<\/p>\n

With a high number of COVID patients recovering every day and the sustained fall in the mortality rate, India\u2019s steady trend of registering dipping active cases continues.<\/p>\n

In another achievement, the percentage active cases have\u00a0fallen below 10%.<\/strong>\u00a0The total positive cases of the country today are\u00a0less than 7.5 lakh<\/strong>\u00a0(7,48,538)\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>comprise merely\u00a09.85%\u00a0<\/strong>of the total cases.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is the result of collaborative, focused and effective action by States\/UTs under the Centre’s strategy of comprehensive and high countrywide testing, prompt and effective surveillance and tracking, quick hospitalization and effective adherence of the Standard Treatment Protocol issued by the Union Government. This success also owes to the selfless service and dedication of doctors, paramedics, frontline workers and all other COVID-19 warriors across all parts of the country.<\/p>\n

The slide in active cases in supplemented by an exponential rise in recoveries. The total recovered cases have crossed 67 lakhs (67,33,328).\u00a0<\/strong>The difference between active cases and recovered cases is consistently increasing and stands at\u00a0<\/strong>59,84,790\u00a0<\/strong>today.<\/p>\n

69,720 patients\u00a0<\/strong>have recovered and discharged in the last 24 hours. The national Recovery Rate has further grown to\u00a088.63%.<\/strong><\/p>\n

78%<\/strong>\u00a0of the new recovered cases are observed to be concentrated in 10 States\/UTs .<\/p>\n

Maharashtra continues to lead with more than 15,000 single day recoveries followed by Karnataka with more than 8,000 recoveries.<\/p>\n

75%\u00a0<\/strong>of the new confirmed cases\u00a0<\/strong>are from 10 States and UTs. Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala contribute more than 5,000 to the new confirmed cases.<\/p>\n

587\u00a0<\/strong>case fatalities have been reported in the past 24 hours. Of these,\u00a0nearly 81%<\/strong>\u00a0are concentrated in ten States\/UTs. The deaths are below 600 for second consecutive day.<\/p>\n

Maharashtra has reported the maximum single day deaths (125 deaths).<\/p>\n

India is the only country with the highest recoveries and continues to have one of the lowest fatality rates globally. Today it stands at\u00a01.52%.<\/strong>\u00a0These have in tandem resulted in consistent slide in the active cases.<\/p>\n
