Covid Update: India crosses a Landmark Milestone<\/h1>\n

New Delhi, October 23<\/p>\n

India has leaped across a significant milestone in its fight against COVID. The active caseload of the country has\u00a0fallen below 7 lakh<\/strong>\u00a0for the first time after two months (63 days). The active caseload was below the 7 lakh mark (6,97,330) last on 22nd<\/sup>\u00a0August.<\/p>\n

The total positive cases of the country today are\u00a06,95,509.\u00a0<\/strong>They\u00a0<\/strong>comprise merely\u00a08.96%\u00a0<\/strong>of the total cases.<\/strong><\/p>\n

With a high number of COVID patients recovering every day along with a steadily falling and sustained low mortality rate, India\u2019s trend of registering decreasing active cases continues.<\/p>\n

India is also reporting a high number of recoveries. The total recovered cases are nearly 70 \u00a0lakhs (69,48,497).\u00a0<\/strong>The difference between active cases and recovered cases is also consistently increasing and stands at\u00a0<\/strong>62,52,988\u00a0<\/strong>today. The recovered cases are nearly 10 times more than the active cases.<\/p>\n

73,979 patients\u00a0<\/strong>have recovered and discharged in the last 24 hours whereas the new confirmed cases are\u00a054,366.<\/strong>\u00a0The national Recovery Rate has further progressed to\u00a089.53%.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Enhanced countrywide medical infrastructure, implementation of the Centre\u2019s Standard Treatment Protocol by the States\/UTs, and total dedication & commitment of doctors, paramedics and frontline workers have led to a persistent increase in the number of total recoveries with commensurate dip in the fatality rate. Today it stands at\u00a01.51%.\u00a0<\/strong>These have together resulted in a consistent slide in the active cases.<\/p>\n

24 States\/UTs<\/strong>\u00a0have less than 20,000 Active Cases.<\/p>\n

81%<\/strong>\u00a0of the new recovered cases are observed to be concentrated in 10 States\/UTs .<\/p>\n

Maharashtra has contributed more than 16,000 to the single day recoveries followed by Karnataka with more than 13,000 recoveries.<\/p>\n

54,366\u00a0<\/strong>new confirmed cases were recorded in the last 24 hours.<\/p>\n

78%\u00a0<\/strong>of these\u00a0<\/strong>are from 10 States and UTs. Maharashtra and Kerala contribute maximum to the new cases with more than 7,000 cases followed by Karnataka with more than 5,000 cases.<\/p>\n

690\u00a0<\/strong>case fatalities have been reported in the past 24 hours. Of these,\u00a0nearly 81%<\/strong>\u00a0are concentrated in ten States\/UTs.<\/p>\n

Maharashtra \u00a0has reported the maximum single day deaths (198 deaths).<\/p>\n
