Advisor Khan sanctioned Rs 2.5 cr for construction workers, dependents<\/div>\n
Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan, today sanctioned a financial assistance worth Rs 2.50 crore to favour of construction workers and dependents under Death-cum-Funeral Assistance and Chronic Diseases Financial Assistance Scheme. Under the Schemes, Advisor Khan approved to 110 cases including 90 death cases and 20 chronic diseases and injury cases. The sanctioned amount would be released soon under the scheme being run by J&K Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB). It provides financial assistance of rupees two lakh to the dependents of construction workers on their death along with Rs 5000 as funeral assistance and the Board also provides rupees one lakh per year to those construction workers and their dependents registered with the Board who suffer from life consuming chronic disease for their treatment. Speaking on the occasion, Advisor Khan said that sanction of all pending cases for which the maximum number of backlog cases were sanctioned in the last three months with no pendency. \u201cMost of the cases sanctioned were new as we have already made a process a standard that after the death of construction worker, a file must be put in within fifteen days after which the case is being finalized for sanction within a month,\u201d Advisor Khan mentioned adding that the cases are being disposed off in time to give relief to construction workers and their families members.<\/div>\n
