Govt. Model Degree College (GMDC) Zanskar as part of G20\/Y20 events today conducted a talk-cum-interactive session in which Dr Rinchen Zangmo, former Assistant Professor at AIIMS talked on the general health and well-being of adolescent females.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The speaker detailed about hormonal changes, menstruation, abortion, infertility, contraception, cancers in the female reproductive system, menopause and precautions and vaccinations to prevent various diseases in gynecology and obstetrics.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Particularly, the doctor spoke about painful periods that disturb the daily activities of women, particularly during important events of life like exam etc. and how to tackle such issues.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
She also spoke about abnormal vaginal discharge which could have many underlying reasons and doctors’ consultation should be sought as soon as possible.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The speaker stressed that pregnancy should be completely avoided before nineteen years as that could lead to complications in both mother and the child. She spoke about fibroids and ovarian tumours and how to know at an early stage about these problems.<\/div>\n

She also focussed on cervical cancer which is quite prevalent in Ladakh region. The disease is caused by HPV which is caused by unsafe sexual activity among both married and unmarried women. The session ended with queries by the students which were answered by the speaker in detail.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
