Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain has directed the Zonal Licensing Authority and Drug Control Officers of the district to keep a close tab on sale of habit forming drugs in the district.<\/div>\n
Reviewing the progress of Drug Control Officers, the Deputy Commissioner accompanied by SSP Dr Sandeep Garg asked them to ensure installation of CCTVs at all Chemist shops. She told the drug control officers to randomly check the record keeping of schedule H1 Drugs with the drug stores.<\/div>\n
She said that as the district has borders with Himachal Pradesh and Haryana so it should be maintained that no drug without bills could enter the district.<\/div>\n
The Deputy Commissioner particularly stressed upon the need to check the permissions of eight medicines (restricted in Punjab) viz. drugs containing Tapentadol (solid oral dosage forms) & narcotic drugs namely Dextropropoxyphene, Diphenoxylate & codeine and psychotropic substances namely Nitrazepam, Pentazocine , buprenorphine & tramadol (solid oral dosage forms) and their salts in the formulations with the local drug stores.<\/div>\n
Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Sandeep Garg while taking part in the deliberations, said that in case of Suspicious activities noticed by the Drug Control Officers, a joint inspection should be made with the help of police. Similarly, he added that the department should also take action against those chemists who were booked under NDPS act viz. suspension\/cancellation of the License.<\/div>\n
The Drug Control officers led by Zonal\u00a0 Licensing Authority assured the Deputy Commissioner of abide by all the directions passed on to them in the meeting to strengthen Punjab Government’s crusade against the drugs. They apprised the house that each Drug Control Officer has been given a monthly target of 20 inspections each and the team is doing the inspections as well.<\/div>\n
