{"id":182152,"date":"2023-12-04T13:08:45","date_gmt":"2023-12-04T07:38:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsmakhani.com\/?p=182152"},"modified":"2023-12-30T13:13:37","modified_gmt":"2023-12-30T07:43:37","slug":"measures-in-place-to-curb-air-pollution-in-coal-mines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsnarad.com\/hi\/measures-in-place-to-curb-air-pollution-in-coal-mines\/","title":{"rendered":"Measures in place to Curb Air Pollution in Coal Mines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"qtranxs-available-languages-message qtranxs-available-languages-message-hi\">\u0915\u094d\u0937\u092e\u093e \u0915\u0930\u0947\u0902, \u092f\u0939 \u0938\u092e\u093e\u091a\u093e\u0930 \u0906\u092a\u0915\u0947 \u0905\u0928\u0941\u0930\u094b\u0927 \u0915\u0940 \u092d\u093e\u0937\u093e \u092e\u0947\u0902 \u0909\u092a\u0932\u092c\u094d\u0927 \u0928\u0939\u0940\u0902 \u0939\u0948\u0964 <a href=\"https:\/\/newsmakhani.com\/en\/\">\u0915\u0943\u092a\u092f\u093e \u092f\u0939\u093e\u0901 \u0926\u0947\u0916\u0947\u0902\u0964<\/a><\/p><p><\/p>\n<div class=\"text-center\">\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Verdana, BlinkMacSystemFont, -apple-system, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Open Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif; font-size: 15px;\">Delhi <\/span><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Verdana, BlinkMacSystemFont, -apple-system, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Open Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif; font-size: 15px;\">04 DEC 2023\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<p>The government has already issued the following guidelines to curb air pollution in existing coal mines throughout the country-<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) noti\ufb01cation, 2006, prescribes that the project proponent has to study the Environmental impacts and adopt suitable Environmental Management Plan to ensure the protection of Environment.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The coal mining standards (Noti\ufb01cation No. GSR 742(E), dated 25.09.2000, prescribes standards to be maintained within the core zone of existing &amp; new mines.<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS), 2009, prescribes the standards to be maintained in Buffer zone surrounding the mines.<\/p>\n<p>In adherence to the Government acts &amp; policies issued from time to time, Coal PSUs are taking necessary steps during the construction and operational stage of mining operations in such a way that the sustainable industrial development is accompanied by both industrial and sound eco-friendly environment protection activities. Project Proponent\/mine owner are required to submit six monthly compliance report to Central Government, State Pollution Control Board (SPCB)\/ Pollution Control Committees (PCCs) and Central pollution Control Board (CPCB).<\/p>\n<p>Central Government (MoEF&amp;CC) has noti\ufb01ed environmental standards for coal mines. SPCBs\/PCCs are empowered to regulate the industrial activities including coal mine activities, and enforcement of environment standards through grant of Consent to Establish and\/or Consent to Operate. The Air (Prevention &amp; Control of Pollution) Act,1981 and Water (Prevention &amp; Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 includes provisions for monitoring of compliance of environmental standards as applicable. Also, provisions of show-cause notice\/closure for non-compliance are mentioned in the Air (Prevention &amp; Control of Pollution) Act,1981 and Water (Prevention &amp; Control of Pollution) Act, 1974.<\/p>\n<p>Ministry of Coal has established Sustainability &amp; Just Transition (S&amp;JT) Division to monitor di\ufb00erent Sustainable Developmental Activities in the coal mines. The following activities to curb the air pollution are being monitored &#8211;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>i.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bio-reclamation\/plantation<\/p>\n<p>ii.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dust suppression technologies<\/p>\n<p>iii.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 First Mile Connectivity projects<\/p>\n<p>iv.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Adoption of eco-friendly technologies such as Surface Miner, In-pit crushing &amp; conveying technologies etc.,<\/p>\n<p>The Environmental norms are complied by Coal PSUs in the following ways:-<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For opening new mine\/project prior Environmental Clearance (EC) is secured from MoEF&amp;CC under Environment (Protection) Act &amp; Rules, 1986 and EIA Notification, 2006 and subsequent amendments.<\/li>\n<li>In compliance of the Forest Conservation Act, 1980, prior Forestry Clearance is\u00a0 also secured from MoEF&amp;CC, in case of projects involving forest land.<\/li>\n<li>In case of Expansion Projects (for enhancement in Production Capacity and \/ or land area) prior Environmental Clearance is also secured from MoEF&amp;CC under Environment (Protection) Act &amp; Rules, 1986 and EIA Notification, 2006 and subsequent amendments.<\/li>\n<li>After receipt of EC, Consent to Establish (CTE) and Consent to Operate (CTO) are also secured from respective State Pollution Control Board under Air (Prevention &amp;
