Efforts of the District Administration to enroll maximum of persons as voters for Gurdwara Board Elections bore fruit as about 40,000 persons have been enrolled\u00a0 so far, said Mrs Aashika Jain, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Electoral Officer.<\/div>\n
She said that a few days back the number was near about 10,000 and after reaching out to the Gurdwara Committees and urging them to sensitise the eligible voters, the number of voters have been increased drastically.<\/div>\n
Deputy Commissioner said that the special camps started in the Gurdwaras of the Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district has paid rich dividends and we have been adding the number of voter forms continuously and consistently.\u00a0 She said that the Patwaris in rural areas and Municipal Staff in urban areas with the help of locals have been mobilizing the eligible Sikh voters for enrollment.<\/div>\n
Giving\u00a0 details of Maghi and Gurpurab occassions, she said that on these days as many as 4517 and 3657 forms were received respectively. Informing about the Sub Division wise collection of the forms, she said that Mohali has contributed 14303, Derabassi 13209 while Kharar 12733 so far. Interestingly, the forms submitted by the females are more than the male. As many as 22490 forms have been submitted by the females while 17399 by the males.<\/div>\n
She has appealed to the eligible Sikh voters to come out to fill\u00a0 the forms as the deadline for the enrolment drive is approaching near. The last date for the submission of forms is February 29, she added.<\/div>\n
The Deputy Commissioner has also asked the Sub Divisional Magistrates-cum-Revising Officer Authorities to keep the drive in momentum to enroll the maximum eligible voters for the Gurdwara Board Elections.<\/div>\n
