The Hon\u2019ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retired), on Wednesday attended a public gathering in Drass as people celebrated the decision of granting district status to the region.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The HLG was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner\/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, Senior Superintendent of Police, Kargil, Shree Raam R and other officials.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The HLG received a grand welcome by the people of Drass who were happy and celebrating the decision of granting district status to Drass region, which was a long pending demand.<\/div>\n

While addressing the public gathering, the Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra congratulated the people of Drass for getting district status as announced by the Government of India.<\/div>\n

The HLG expressed his happiness and acknowledged that this significant decision will bring development and governance to the doorstep of people in the region.<\/div>\n

The Hon\u2019ble Lt Governor expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi and Hon\u2019ble Home Minister Shri Amit Shah for approving the creation of five new districts in UT Ladakh, boosting regional development.<\/div>\n

At the happy and excited gathering, the Hon\u2019ble Lt Governor stated that since his appointment, he has been striving hard to improve the region adding that the creation of five new districts in Ladakh marks a new beginning to a better future. The HLG said for the development and progress of society, the participation of women is necessary.<\/div>\n

On the occasion, Councilor Ranbirpora, Abdul Samad; Councilor Bhimbat Abdul Wahid, political and religious leaders, prominent citizens, women and others expressed their gratitude to Hon\u2019ble Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi led government for granting district status to Drass.<\/div>\n

Earlier, at Dak Bunglow Drass, a delegation led by Councilor Ranbirpora Abdul Samad, Councilor Bhimbat Abdul Wahid, BJP Chief Patron Drass, Fayaz Qari and prominent citizens met the HLG and thanked him for his endeavours in granting Drass a district status. They also thanked Hon\u2019ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi and Hon\u2019ble Home Minister, Shri. Amit Shah for announcing the district status for Drass.<\/div>\n
