Government Degree College Drass successfully hosted a \u201cMeet the Expert\u201d programme for students of the High Altitude Trekking Guide Course, featuring Captain Pushya Mitra, Founder and Director of Tirupati Adventurous Trekkers, Tirupati Nature Society, and Tirupati Runners.<\/div>\n

The event began with a warm welcome by Principal Nasir Shabani, who greeted the distinguished guest with traditional khatak and underlined the significance of professional trekking equipment in strengthening the Skill Centre\u2019s capacity for safe, experiential learning in the region\u2019s challenging terrain.<\/div>\n

In his engaging address, Captain Pushya Mitra shared inspiring personal mountaineering experiences, highlighted the nuances of high-altitude trekking, and spoke on the growing scope of adventure tourism as a career path. He particularly emphasized the role of technical equipment and safety training for aspiring mountaineers.<\/div>\n

A major highlight of the day was the formal handover and takeover of high-altitude trekking equipment amounting Rs 1.5 Lakh sponsored by Tirupati Adventurous Trekkers, to the college\u2019s Skill Centre.<\/div>\n

The donated gear including ropes, harnesses, mountaineering shoes, caps, and other essential tools \u2014 will directly support student training in alpine and expedition environments. Captain Mitra also demonstrated the use of select equipment, offering students hands-on insights into their application during training and expeditions.<\/div>\n

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Javed Mohammad Iqbal, UT Nodal Officer for Skill Courses, Ladakh, he extended heartfelt gratitude to all the generous sponsors\u00a0 of the high altitude trek gears. He also\u00a0 acknowledged the key role of Mr. Suhail Ahmed in facilitating the programme\/ sponsorship.<\/div>\n
