Haryana received Second Prize in the 30th National Energy Conservation Awards 2020<\/h2>\n

Chandigarh, January 11:\u00a0Under the Best Performing State Designated Agency category, New and Renewable Energy Department, Haryana today has received Second Prize in the 30th\u00a0National Energy Conservation Awards 2020\u00a0from the Ministry of Power, Government of India.<\/p>\n

Additional Chief Secretary, New and Renewable Energy Department, Mr. T.C. Gupta, along with Director General, DNRE and HAREDA Dr. Hanif Qureshi, received the award from\u00a0Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power and New and Renewable Energy and Minister of State in Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship,\u00a0Mr. R K Singh\u00a0during the virtual\u00a0National Energy Conservation Award (NECA) function organized by Ministry of Power, Government of India which was streamed from Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.<\/p>\n

The NECA 2020 witnessed participation of 409 units and based on their performance assessment, 57 units have been selected for Awards in different categories. There are 36 State Designated Agencies in the State among which the New and Renewable Energy, Haryana, which is acting as State Designated Agency for Haryana got the second award.<\/p>\n

Divulging more details, Mr. T.C. Gupta,\u00a0informed that the Department of New and Renewable Energy, Haryana is promoting energy conservation in the State with\u00a0multipronged strategy. During 2019-20, more than 94 MW was saved in the State from various Energy Conservation Measures.<\/p>\n

He said that the State Government has taken various policy initiatives including mandatory energy audit, Energy Conservation Building Code, mandatory installation of LED lights in various categories of buildings and Industries and mandatory installation of at least 4 star rated pumps\u00a0in Agriculture\u00a0sector. To facilitate the energy conservation activities and to ensure compliance of various activities under Energy Conservation at 2001, Inspecting officers have been appointed by the Department during 2019-20.<\/p>\n

Nine Districts have replaced their 100 percent conventional lights with LED lights in Govt buildings and penetration of LED lights have been increased to 80 percent.\u00a0 He further informed that conventional and diesel pumps are also being solarized with a target of 50,000 number of solar water pumps and during the current year, 15,000 solar pumps with 75 percent Government\u00a0 subsidy are being installed, informed Mr. T.C Gupta.<\/p>\n

Dr. Hanif Qureshi informed that the Department has implemented energy-saving measures in more than 330 schools out of which 220 number of schools were covered in 2019-20. Energy Conservation measures were also implemented in all the District Civil Hospitals of the State.<\/p>\n

Various other Demonstration projects in Jails and municipal sector were also implemented during 2019-20.State Level Energy Conservation Awards are being provided to Industries, Buildings, Institutions, Energy Auditing and Green Building Firms. Research and Innovation initiatives are also being facilitated through these awards.<\/p>\n

Apart from this, Energy-efficient and Solar based decentralized devices including home lighting systems, Solar LED-based streetlights were also provided to rural sector stakeholders. The Department has also organized various capacity building programme during 2019-20. The Department has strengthened the institutional capacity and looking forward to explore new areas through R&D and innovative activities, with support from BEE.<\/p>\n
