Rate dips to 18.17% with more than 15.73L tests done in the last 24 hours<\/h4>\n

DELHI MAY 17, 2021:<\/strong><\/p>\n

In an encouraging development, daily new COVID cases being registered in India are\u00a0now less than 3 Lakhs after 26 days.<\/strong><\/p>\n

2,81,386\u00a0<\/strong>new\u00a0cases were registered in the last 24 hours.<\/p>\n

The graph below shows the average decline in daily new cases since 9th<\/sup>\u00a0May 2021.<\/p>\n

A declining trend in the\u00a0Weekly positivity rate<\/strong>\u00a0is also observed which stands at\u00a018.17% today\u00a0<\/strong>as shown below. Total\u00a0daily tests conducted in the last 24 hours stand at 15,73,515 and cumulatively 31,64,23,658 tests have been conducted so far.<\/p>\n

State-wise number of districts with higher positivity rate is as shown below with Karnataka showing most number of districts (27) with more than 20% positivity rate and Madhya Pradesh consisting highest number of districts (38) with more than 10% positivity rate.<\/p>\n

India\u2019s cumulative recoveries have reached\u00a02,11,74,076\u00a0<\/strong>today. The National Recovery Rate\u00a0is\u00a084.81%.<\/strong><\/p>\n

3,78,741\u00a0<\/strong>recoveries\u00a0were registered in the last 24 hours.<\/p>\n

Also, 24-hour Recoveries have outnumbered the daily new COVID Cases for the sixth time in last 7 days and\u00a0consistently in the last 4 days<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ten states account for\u00a071.35%\u00a0<\/strong>of the new recoveries.<\/p>\n

On the other front, India\u2019s total Active Caseload has decreased to\u00a035,16,997\u00a0<\/strong>today. It now\u00a0comprises\u00a014.09%\u00a0<\/strong>of the country’s total Positive Cases.<\/p>\n

A net\u00a0decline\u00a0<\/strong>of 1,01,461 cases is recorded in the active caseload in the last 24 hours.<\/strong><\/p>\n

10\u00a0<\/strong>States cumulatively account for\u00a075.04%<\/strong>\u00a0of India\u2019s total Active Cases.<\/p>\n

The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has reached nearly\u00a018.30 Cr<\/strong>\u00a0today under the Phase-3 of the nationwide Vaccination Drive.<\/p>\n

A total of\u00a018,29,26,460\u00a0<\/strong>vaccine doses have been administered through 26,68,895sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am today. These include\u00a096,45,695\u00a0<\/strong>HCWs who have taken the 1st<\/sup>\u00a0dose and\u00a066,43,661\u00a0<\/strong>HCWs who have taken the 2nd<\/sup>dose,\u00a01,44,44,096\u00a0<\/strong>FLWs (1st<\/sup>dose),\u00a081,96,053\u00a0<\/strong>FLWs (2nd<\/sup>dose),\u00a052,64,073\u00a0<\/strong>beneficiaries under 18-44 age group (1st<\/sup>dose),\u00a05,72,78,554\u00a0<\/strong>(1st<\/sup>dose) and\u00a091,07,311\u00a0<\/strong>(2nd<\/sup>\u00a0dose) beneficiaries aged 45 to 60 years.\u00a05,45,15,352\u00a0<\/strong>1st<\/sup>dose beneficiaries and\u00a01,78,01,891\u00a0<\/strong>2nd<\/sup>\u00a0dose beneficiaries of more than 60 years old.<\/p>\n

Nearly 7 lakh vaccination doses were administered in the last 24 hours.\u00a0As on Day-121 of the vaccination drive (16th<\/sup>\u00a0May, 2021), 6,91,211 vaccine doses were given. Across 6,068 sessions, 6,14,286 beneficiaries were vaccinated for 1st<\/sup>\u00a0dose and 76,925 beneficiaries received their 2nd<\/sup>\u00a0dose of vaccine.<\/p>\n

The National Mortality Rate currently stands at\u00a01.10%.<\/strong><\/p>\n

4,106\u00a0<\/strong>deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.<\/p>\n

Ten States account for\u00a075.38%\u00a0<\/strong>of the new deaths. Maharashtra saw the maximum casualties (974). Karnataka follows with 403 daily deaths.<\/p>\n
