Prof. Raj Kumar,\u00a0 \u00a0Vice Chancellor of Panjab University has\u00a0 been given extension for\u00a0a period of another three\u00a0years\u00a0 w.e.f 23 July 2021. by the office of Chancellor, Panjab University..<\/p>\n

Under his tenure, growth of Panjab University has taken a quantum leap in the last about 3-years. There are\u00a0many first time initiatives\u00a0which include\u00a0integration of Seven Verticals\u00a0SAIF\/CIL Lab, Design Innovation Centre, CIIPP, Skill Development, Bio-Nest Incubator, Institute Innovation Council, DST Centre for Policy Research, for their efficient and coordinated working. University received a grant of\u00a0Rs. 50 crore from MHRD Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA)\u00a0under Component 10 and planned and established\u00a0Incubation Centre known as Discovery Block\u00a0in the University Campus. PU is ranked at\u00a02nd\u00a0in the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) amongst Indian Universities of the country. It has signed 37 MoUs with National and International institutions\/ Industry.<\/p>\n

Also,\u00a0the University library\u00a0provided learning resources through\u00a0RemoteXs\u00a0at home for the faculty, research scholars and students. University faculty with motivation has\u00a0organized 900+\u00a0Webinars\/ Seminars\/ Workshops\/ Conferences in last two years along with\u00a0500+ online\u00a0events during COVID pandemic.\u00a027 scientists\u00a0from various disciplines out of 2313 Indian Scientists have been included in the elite list of world top two percent scientists by\u00a0Stanford University. Assam Government established the Srimanta Sankardev Chair commencing from 2019-20 to facilitate research beyond Assam borders.\u00a0He made efforts to give\u00a0 promotion and service benefits to a number of ministerial, secretarial, technical and Class \u2018C\u2019 staff .<\/p>\n

PU won the prestigious Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (MAKA) Trophy for all-round performance in sports among Indian Universities continuously for\u00a0two years (2019 & 2020). It was awarded by the President of India on National Sports Day. PU also got\u00a0First position in\u00a0<\/sup>1st<\/sup>\u00a0Khelo India\u00a0University Games organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports during Feb-March 2020.\u00a0University introduced a Six-month Certificate Course in Elementary Sanskrit and Bhagavad-Gita, Ancient Indian Wisdom. It has also conducted\u00a0Online examination\u00a0for all the students (~2,50,000) during COVID Pandemic. It is\u00a0among top 05 universities\u00a0in India to upload data of 31000+ students on\u00a0NAD (National Academic Depository)\u00a0as mandated by MHRD, GoI. Under his leadership,\u00a0\u00a0PU Alumni Association (PUAA) organized a\u00a0Global Alumni Meet\u00a0in November, 2019.<\/p>\n

He has been instrumental in getting 271 Molekule Air purifier units for SAIF\/CIL, Panjab University and have been distributed to the hospitals of the region.<\/p>\n
