\nOn the occasion of World Environment Day, Ropar Wildlife Division, Department of Forests and Wildlife Preservation, Punjab organized a virtual seminar on the theme of \u2018Ecosystem Restoration\u2019 on 5th June 21.
\nBefore the virtual seminar in the afternoon, a tree plantation drive was organised in the early hours of the day to mark the occasion where the Ropar Wildlife Division distributed the thematic caps on plantation and trees were planted in Sadabrat Nature Trail\"\"
\nMore than 300 participants attended the webinar where school students, nature lovers and individuals. Mr Gnana Prakash, Conservator of Forests, Shivalik Circle of Punjab also attended the seminar. The 3-hour long webinar had speakers experienced in the fields of environment, immunology, wildlife rescue and biodiversity. The speakers shared their knowledge and guided the students and other participants about the problems that are posing threat to the environment and the very existence of many species including humans. A thoroughly informative session was successful in disseminating valuable knowledge and generating awareness about our ecosystem.
\nTopics that were covered by Dr. Naresh Rakha, Dr Sumit Dookia, Col. Dr Nawaz Sharif and Dr Faiyaz Ahmad Khudsar were \u2018Who will restore the environment?\u2019, \u2018Bats and their role in our ecosystem, Living with the Wild-Interdependence and Ecological Restoration: the only safeguard available for environment\u2019, respectively. The response of the participants was very positive which could be seen from the queries that were asked by them. The speakers responded to all queries and applauded the intelligence & interest of the participants.
\nDr Monika Yadav, IFS, DFO, Ropar, who conducted this virtual seminar said that she cannot thank enough to the heroes of nature who are saving environment and rescuing animals to ensure that the ecosystem can be saved. Quoting Gandhi ji, she said that nature has the capability to provide resources for our needs but not our greed. So, she urged everyone not to destroy & exhaust the natural resources and do our bit regularly.
\nAround 100 students participated in the competitions of story making competition, video making and poster making Participants will be given participation certificates and winners will awarded.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
