PLANTS SAPLINGS IN GOVERNMENT COLLEGE FOR GIRLS UNDER MISSION TANDARUST PUNJAB<\/strong>

\nIn an initiative aimed at enhancing the green cover in the district, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Wednesday embarked another plantation drive at Government College for Girls under Mission Tandarust Punjab.
\nDeputy Commissioner along with Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Amit Kumar Panchal, Assistant Commissioner (Under Training) Dr Harjinder Singh Bedi and Principal Dr Sukhwinder Kaur, said that the clean and pollution free environment is a must for ensuring good health of the citizens as trees are the only source of oxygen, which is the basis of human life on the earth.
\nHe said that major focus is being laid on planting traditional varieties of plants which are best suited for the environment of the state.\"\"
\nExhorting the residents of district to play a pivotal role for making it a clean, green and pollution free district, he said that such plantation drives are all the more important as the depleting green cover is a cause of concern for everybody as it poses a serious hazard to the environment and human health.
\nSharma said that it is bounden duty of every individual to come forward and plant more and more number of trees to provide \u2018green lungs\u2019 to our district. Soliciting fulsome support of people in this noble cause, he called upon them plant and upkeep saplings for the sake of our coming generations.
\nThe Deputy Commissioner said that this drive has been started in consonance with the commitment of the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to encourage people to plant more and more trees for making Punjab clean, green and pollution-free under Mission Tandarust Punjab.<\/p>\n
