Fazilka, 23 October 2025
Under the leadership of Founders Prabkiran Brar and Ajit Brar, Joti Foundation is bringing the warmth and light of Diwali to 14 border villages in Fazilka that were devastated by the recent floods. The foundation’s team celebrated the festival with local families, distributing new clothes, mithai, and eco-friendly diyas, while spreading the message of a Green Diwali one rooted in sustainability, community, and hope.
These 14 villages — home to over 12,000 citizens — were among the worst affected by the floods that submerged over 7,000 acres of fertile farmland. Since adopting these villages, Joti Foundation has been leading a large-scale recovery mission, including desilting, levelling, and cultivating the damaged fields to help farmers regain their livelihoods.
“Diwali is about the triumph of light over darkness — and for these resilient families, their courage is that light,” said Ajit Brar, Founder of Joti Foundation. “We are committed not just to relief but to long-term recovery — rebuilding lives, restoring land, and reviving hope, sustainably.”
“I’ve always believed that festivals are lessons in gratitude. This Diwali, the greatest light we can spread is not from diyas alone, but from the kindness we share. Watching children in these villages smile again reminds me that hope, when taught and shared, becomes the brightest flame of all.” — Prabkiran Brar, Chairperson, Joti Foundation
