No LPG, Fuel Shortage in Haryana, Supply Chain Running Smoothly

Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi Chairs High-Level Review Meeting on LPG, PNG Network Across Haryana

Chandigarh, 7 April 2026

In a strong demonstration of the state government’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted supply of cooking fuel to every household, Haryana Chief Secretary Sh. Anurag Rastogi today chaired a high-level meeting in Chandigarh to review the distribution of LPG cylinders, including 5 Kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders, and the status of PNG (Piped Natural Gas) network across the state. The meeting was also conducted as a Video Conference (VC) with all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) across all districts of Haryana for a comprehensive ground-level review.

Chief Secretary’s Directions to Deputy Commissioners

During the Video Conference with all Deputy Commissioners, Chief Secretary Sh. Anurag Rastogi issued clear directions to ensure last-mile delivery of LPG cylinders, with special attention to rural areas. DCs were directed to closely monitor the distribution of 5 Kg FTL cylinders and PNG connectivity in their respective districts, address any bottlenecks in the booking and delivery chain promptly, and ensure that new LPG connections are issued in a time-bound and transparent manner, particularly to beneficiaries under welfare schemes.

Sh. Rastogi emphasized that the state government remains fully committed to ensuring that no household in Haryana faces any inconvenience in accessing clean cooking fuel, and that the distribution machinery must remain alert and responsive at all times.

Commissioner & Secretary, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Sh. J. Ganesan informed that domestic LPG cylinders are being supplied across the state without any disruption in the supply chain. There is absolutely no shortage of domestic LPG in the state of Haryana and the situation is similar to the corresponding period last year. This is a testament to the proactive planning and efficient coordination by the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) — Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPC), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPC) — working in close partnership with the state government.

Commercial Supplies Restored

In another significant development, from March 28, 2026, OMCs have successfully resumed full commercial LPG supplies to hotels, restaurants, dhabas, and industries, over and above essential supplies. This move is expected to provide substantial relief to the hospitality and food service sectors across the state and boost commercial activity. Commercial establishments can also register with the respective OMCs to avail timely and uninterrupted LPG supply, ensuring ease of doing business and operational continuity.

Strong Domestic LPG Distribution

The meeting was informed that during March 2026, OMCs together supplied a total of 54.39 lakh domestic LPG cylinders across Haryana. The three major OMCs contributed robustly — IOC supplied 23.36 lakh cylinders, BPC supplied 18.83 lakh cylinders, and HPC supplied 12.21 lakh cylinders — reflecting a well-coordinated and wide-reaching distribution network covering both urban and rural areas of the state.

5 Kg FTL Cylinders — Expanding Reach to the Last Mile

The review meeting placed special focus on the distribution of 5 Kg FTL (Free Trade LPG) cylinders, which serve as a convenient and affordable option for migrant labourers, smaller households, street vendors, and small eateries. Between April 1 and April 5, 2026, a total of 4,730 FTL (5 Kg) cylinders were sold across the state by the three OMCs. IOC contributed 1,294 cylinders, BPC led with 2,422 cylinders, and HPC supplied 1,014 cylinders. The Chief Secretary directed all DCs to ensure that the availability and accessibility of 5 Kg cylinders is further strengthened at the grassroots level. The Government of India has also directed states to double the daily allocation of 5-kg free trade LPG (FTL) cylinders, to expand outreach and improve affordability.

New LPG Connections on the Rise

Reflecting growing energy access and inclusion, a total of 2,565 new LPG connections have been issued since March 15, 2026. Of these, 1,090 new connections were for 5 Kg cylinders, 1,462 for 19 Kg domestic cylinders, and 13 for commercial 47.5 Kg cylinders. This surge in new connections underlines the government’s push for clean cooking fuel adoption across all sections of society. Continuous supplies are also being maintained at all petrol pumps across the state. Residents are advised that there is no need for panic buying as sufficient stocks are available at all retail outlets.

Meanwhile, Rabi crop procurement in Haryana is also proceeding smoothly, with robust arrangements in place to facilitate hassle-free wheat arrival and procurement, ensuring convenience for farmers and efficient operations at procurement centres.

Additional Chief Secretary, Environment, Forests & Wildlife, Sh. Sudhir Rajpal, Commissioner & Secretary, Excise & Taxation, Ashima Brar, and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
