Chandigarh, 19 August – Haryana Education Minister, Mr. Kanwar Pal said that Haryana will be the leading state in implementing the new National Education Policy-2020 in the country as all the infrastructure related to education in the state is already strong.

Mr. Kanwar Pal said that as soon as the new National Education Policy was announced on August 7, 2020, Officers of the Education Department were directed to study it.  The framework for its implementation is also being prepared, he added.

He said that he had the opportunity to participate in a webinar in Chandigarh along with academicians from northern states. Heads of various Departments and Vice-Chancellors of various Universities gave very important suggestions for the implementation of Education Policy.  A four-day digital conclave of Vice-Chancellors of State Universities is underway at Haryana Raj Bhavan, as well.

He said that this Policy will provide the youth with the necessary education and skills to empower 21st century India and to take the country to new heights of development and to empower the citizens with maximum opportunities.  He said that there has been no change in the education system in the last 34 years and people continued to give priority to professions like doctors, engineers, or lawyers.  So far there was no attempt to know about the interest, talent, and desires of students, but in the new policy, special consideration will be made keeping in mind the aptitude of the individual, he added.  He said that this policy has been formulated by adopting a holistic approach according to the kind of education that the country needs in the 21st century.
