75 patriotic theme based films to be screened at Khajuraho International Film Fest – Principal Secretary Shri Shukla

The theme of Khajuraho International Film Festival being organized on the occasion of ‘Azadi Ke Amrit Mahotsav’ as per the wishes of Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Tourism and Culture Minister Sushri Usha Thakur is based on patriotism. Principal Secretary Tourism, Culture and Public Relations Shri Shiv Shekhar Shukla informed that ‘Khajuraho International Film Festival’ will be organized in Khajuraho from December 5th to 11th, 2021. 75 films of famous film directors from across the country based on the theme of patriotism will be screened. Many eminent film actors, actresses, producers, directors and experts of the country will also be present during the screening of films at the Khajuraho International Film Festival.

Principal Secretary Shri Shukla informed that films by local artists will also be screened during the festival and a strong platform will be provided to the local talent. This festival is being organized under the joint aegis of the Department of Tourism and Culture and Bundelkhand Development Board. Not only will the festival acquaint the tourists of the country and abroad with the local culture, archaeological heritage of the state, but local tourism will also get a boost. Principal Secretary Shri Shukla has cordially invited all the people and tourists who are interested in or involved in film, art, culture and film journalism to attend the film festival. He appealed to all the people to participate in the film festival in maximum number.

Shri Shukla informed that this is the 7th edition of Khajuraho International Film Festival. In the earlier 6 editions, films based on important themes including women empowerment, health and rural development have been screened. This year, 11 Tapra Talkies will screen films in this festival, which started with the screening of films in a Tapra Talkies set in a rural setting popular with tourists. Along with this, a permanent auditorium with a capacity of about 175 spectators has been constructed for the screening of films in Khajuraho. Cultural programmes will also be organized daily during the festival. Local artists will be provided opportunities in cultural events. Another highlight of the film festival is Kaushal Haat, which will showcase various products made by local artists.

Shri Bundela informed that health camps are also being organized for the local citizens during the 7-day Khajuraho Film Festival. Necessary counseling will be given to them in the camp after conducting tests related to eye, kidney and other major diseases. Over the years, celebrities including Shekhar Kapur, Manmohan Shetty, Ramesh Sippy, Jackie Shroff, Kiran Kumar, Dr. Chandra Prakash Dwivedi, Tanuja, Anupam Kher, Rahul Rawail, Anurag Basu, Boney Kapoor, Govind Nihalani, Ramesh Taurani, Subhash Ghai, Prahlad Kakkar and others have taken part in the festival. Underlining Khajuraho and Panna Tiger Reserves famed for their temples, Shekhar Kapur has given the tag line ‘Temple Tiger and Tapra Talkies’ for the Khajuraho International Film Festival.
