Haryana Development and Panchayat Minister, Sh. Krishan Lal Panwar, said that a Special Task Force (STF) was constituted in 2017 to curb organised crime and deal with criminals. So far, the STF has arrested 1,830 criminals, and at present, nine field units are actively functioning across the state.
Sh. Panwar was replying on behalf of the Chief Minister to a question raised by MLA, Sh. Aditya Surjewala on law and order during the last day of the Monsoon Session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha today.
The Minister said that between 2018 and 2025, there has been a consistent decline in serious crimes such as murder, attempt to murder, rape, robbery, kidnapping, extortion, theft, molestation, illegal sale of narcotics.
He shared that in 2018, a total of 1,104 murder cases were registered, which have come down to 530 till July 31, 2025. Similarly, cases of attempt to murder reduced from 984 to 602, rape from 1,296 to 663, robbery from 194 to 57, and kidnapping from 5,015 to 2,316. Extortion cases also fell from 299 to 254 in the same period.
Similarly, theft cases dropped from 28,969 in 2018 to 13,972 in 2025. Molestation cases decreased from 2,671 to 662, while cases registered under the NDPS Act came down from 2,587 to 2,138.
He further said that the total number of IPC/BNS cases declined from 1,08,212 in 2018 to 63,136 by July 31, 2025. In the past two years, through special campaigns against gangsters, the police successfully solved 14 robbery cases, 43 loot cases, 111 burglary cases, 316 theft cases, and 214 other criminal cases.
He also informed the House that Look out Circular and Red Corner Notice have been got issued against 24 gang members/criminals whose links with foreign countries have been found during investigation.
