VB G Ram G Act guarantees corruption-free rural employment: Shyam Singh Rana

Chandigarh, 9 January 2025

Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Sh. Shyam Singh Rana said that Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini is strongly implementing the Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi’s Viksit Bharat Employment and Livelihood Guarantee Mission (Rural) Act, 2025 in Haryana. He said the Viksit Bharat Employment and Livelihood Guarantee Mission (Rural) Act, 2025 ensures corruption-free rural employment. This rural employment policy provides a higher number of guaranteed workdays, better wages, transparent payments, and creation of sustainable assets. The new Act has addressed and removed corruption and shortcomings that existed in the earlier MGNREGA scheme.

The Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister was addressing a press conference in Kurukshetra on Friday. He said that Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini have taken another historic step towards the welfare of workers and the development of villages by launching the Viksit Bharat–Ji Ram Ji scheme. This initiative is directly connected with crores of rural workers, farmers, and hardworking families across the country.

He said that the objective of the VB G RAM G Act is to support genuine worker beneficiaries who were cheated by previous governments. The Act provides for real-time monitoring of projects and ensures transparency in wage payments. By increasing guaranteed employment, it provides higher wages to workers. These workers will now contribute not to filling the coffers of corrupt contractors, officials, or politicians, but to building a developed India.

Employment guarantee increased from 100 to 125 days

Sh. Shyam Singh Rana said that under the new provisions, increasing the employment guarantee from 100 days to 125 days has significantly enhanced the assured wages of workers. Through this measure, the government aims to improve the standard of living of labourers. As a result, the annual income of a rural unskilled worker across India will increase by an average of more than Rs. 7,000. Since wage rates are higher in Haryana, each worker in the State will receive at least Rs. 10,000 more annually.
