Haryana Government extends last date subsidy on certified seeds of wheat variety HD-2967
Chandigarh, December 31 – Haryana Government has decided to extend the last date for subsidy on certified seeds of wheat variety HD-2967 till Rabi 2021-22.
Giving this information in this regard an official spokesperson of the Agriculture Department said that the government provides subsidy to farmers on certified seeds of wheat sold by government agencies under various schemes every year. This subsidy is given only on those varieties of wheat whose notification limit is less than 10 years.
He informed that the wheat variety HD-2967 was notified by the Government of India on October 2011 and its grant period will expire in October 2021. In view of the good yield of this variety the government has decided to extend the last date of subsidy on its certified seeds till Rabi 2021-22.
It is worth mentioning here that this variety of wheat has been described by the Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar as very sensitive to yellow rot disease. The main symptoms of this disease are: yellow stripes appearing on the surface of the leaves, powdery yellow substance on the leaves, and visibility of black colour underneath the yellow stripes as the temperature rises.
He said that for the treatment of yellow rot disease in wheat, farmers should spray 200 millilitres of propiconazole 25 per cent EC in 200 litres of water per acre if the farmers notices the above symptoms. He further added that if the disease is in its initial stages, then the quantity of water should be reduced. He said that once the outbreak of the disease increases, the second spraying can be repeated after 10-15 days.
