Defense Minister addresses state level Annapurna Utsav
Chandigarh, August 19– Union Defense Minister, Sh. Rajnath Singh has said that the Annapurna Utsav of Haryana is not just a festival of food distribution, but it is a celebration of the Government’s dedication, cooperation and trust. He said this while addressing the state level Annapurna Utsav virtually as the Chief Guest. The programme was presided over by the Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal. Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala and Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Sh. Gian Chand Gupta were also present during the programme.
The Defense Minister while appreciating the work done by the Haryana Government during the COVID-19 period said that no one had thought to see a time like this last year. The government tackled the whole situation during the COVID-19 pandemic in a very efficient manner. Accepting the challenge, the Center took the decision of implementing strict lockdown. At that time many things were said in this regard but the priority of the government was to save the lives of the people first. The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana proved to be very helpful in these very difficult times.
People abroad talk about how India has arranged food grains for such a large population in this difficult time. All this was possible only because of the foresight of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi. All this was possible due to the appreciable coordination between the Central Government and the State Governments.
Charismatic land of Haryana
Sh. Rajnath Singh said that the land of Haryana is charismatic. Be it a farmer, a jawan or a wrestler, this is the land of land brave sons. The land here not only spews gold from the ground but also produces sportspersons who win gold at the Olympics. The geographical area of Haryana is only 1.5 percent of the entire country, whereas its total contribution to agriculture is 15 percent in the country. He said that our government has fulfilled what it promised. There is a target of zero hunger by the year 2030 and I have come to know that Haryana has already achieved this target. During the Covid period, when there was a crisis of employment, the Haryana Government under the leadership of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal did a great job by creating 180 lakh man-days under MGNREGA in the state. The Haryana Government deserves congratulations and this message should reach the public.
Defence Minister urges to understand agricultural laws
The Union Defence Minister urged to understand the agricultural laws and said that I have read these laws and there is no such sentence anywhere in it which is not in the interest of the farmers. He said that I am also the son of a farmer and I have also done farming and I can understand the problems of the farmers.
He said that due to the old policies, agriculture was becoming a loss-making deal and when the farmer used to sell his crop, it was found that even the cost price was not met. That’s why I urge you to understand these laws. If anyone has any doubt in these laws, then the government is always ready to negotiate for its solution. Attempts have been made to mislead the farmers by creating an atmosphere of protest, but gradually the farmers are beginning to understand the truth.
Appreciated State Government and the Chief Minister
Appreciating the State Government, the Union Defense Minister said that Haryana Government under the leadership of Chief Minister, Shri Manohar Lal has done excellent work during the management of COVID-19 pandemic. Be it the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana or the vaccination campaign in the state, the Haryana government has done commendable work.
The State Government arranged food grains for 27 lakh families. Apart from this, ration was also distributed in Haryana to 17000 families of other states. This became possible only due to the One Nation One Ration Card scheme of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi. Not only this, the Haryana Government under the leadership of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal has also got 50 percent anti-Covid-19 vaccinations done which is a great achievement.
Direct interaction with the beneficiaries
Sh. Rajnath Singh interacted directly with the beneficiaries including Sh. Rameshwar from Karnal, Geeta from Gurugram and Saroj in Hisar to know whether they were facing any difficulty in getting ration. Apart from this Sh. Rajnath Singh asked them about the schemes from which they were getting the benefit, to which the beneficiaries replied that they were getting benefits of the many welfare schemes and were not facing any problem in the same.
On this occasion, MP, Sh. Ratan Lal Kataria, Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. DS Dhesi, Additional Chief Secretary, Food and Supplies Department, Sh. Anurag Rastogi, Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Dr. Amit Agrawal, BJP State President, Sh. OP Dhankar, BJP State Incharge Senior leaders and officials including Sh. Vinod Tawde were present.
