With women’s empowerment emerging as a defining theme in Haryana’s policy landscape, the state government has taken yet another decisive step by approving the Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana. Announced in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, the scheme will be rolled out from September 25, marking the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay.

Cooperation, Heritage and Tourism Minister Dr. Arvind Sharma, hailing the decision, called it a transformative initiative that will strengthen the dignity and financial independence of women across Haryana.  He underlined that the government’s resolve is not just in words but backed by substantial financial commitment Rs. 5,000 crore has already been allocated in the state budget for this scheme.

He shared that under the programme, all eligible women aged 23 and above will receive a monthly assistance of Rs. 2,100. In its initial phase, the focus will be on women from poor and underprivileged families, before the ambit of the scheme is gradually widened.

Dr. Arvind Sharma said the scheme’s design reflects the Chief Minister’s vision of ensuring that no section of society is left behind.

He shared that the choice of September 25 as the launch date is symbolic. Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, whose birth anniversary falls on the day, famously championed the philosophy of Antyodaya, empowering the last person in the queue. This scheme, Dr. Sharma remarked, is a true reflection of that vision. It will directly benefit lakhs of women and inject fresh energy into their lives.

Dr. Arvind Sharma  said that with the Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana,  Haryana positioned itself at the forefront of states adopting direct, large-scale interventions to empower women not only socially but also economically. The monthly support, though modest, is expected to ease financial stress for households and encourage women to pursue greater self-reliance, he said.
