BJP National Secretary and MLA from RS Pura–Jammu South Assembly Constituency, Dr. Narinder Singh, has raised serious concern over the acute shortage of 7 subject experts at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, RS Pura. He strongly criticized the Education Department for its negligence and demanded immediate action to ensure the academic future of hundreds of girl students is not jeopardized.

Dr. Singh pointed out that the school has been functioning without subject experts for the last one and a half years. Six Posts of lecturers in English, Political Science, History, Mathematics, Commerce, and Botany remain vacant, while the 1 post for Sociology has been on medical leave. This shortage has resulted in repeated loss of precious study hours for the students of classes 11th and 12th, many of whom are preparing for board examinations and competitive tests.

Expressing deep anguish, Dr. Singh said, “Where shall these students go? Are their aspirations and careers to be sacrificed because of the administrative and government apathy? For the last eighteen months, these young girls have been denied their fundamental right to quality education. This is nothing less than criminal negligence.”

He lambasted the Education Minister, Sakina Itoo, stating that despite being a woman herself, she has failed to safeguard the interests of female students. He said it was ironic and shameful that the Union Government’s flagship programme, “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao”, is collapsing right under her nose in Jammu and Kashmir.

Dr. Singh further questioned the seriousness of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s government in maintaining even the basic standards of education. He said, “The CM must explain whether improving education in the Union Territory is even on his agenda. The message being sent is that education of young girls does not matter to this government.”

Calling for immediate intervention, Dr. Singh demanded that all vacant lecturer posts in the RS Pura Girls Higher Secondary School be filled without any delay. He urged the Education Department to act with responsibility, reminding them that every lost academic hour is a step backwards in the future of the students.
