After the Sadar Area, Storm Water Drainage System to be Installed in Remaining Parts of Ambala Cantonment – Anil Vij
Chandigarh, 04 November 2025
Haryana’s Transport Minister, Sh. Anil Vij said that efforts are being made to ensure a more comfortable and convenient travel experience for the people of Ambala. Since a large number of people commute daily between Ambala Cantonment and Ambala City, the local/city bus service is being strengthened and expanded for their benefit.
Sh. Vij was interacting with the media persons today.
Welcoming the induction of five new electric air-conditioned buses into the local fleet at Ambala Cantonment, the Minister said that the local bus service had remained discontinued for several years, but after he assumed charge as Transport Minister, the service was revived successfully. At present, around 25 buses operate daily between Ambala City, Ambala Cantonment, and nearby villages, providing better transportation facilities to the public. He added that most of these buses are electric and air-conditioned, while a few smaller buses have been introduced to operate in narrow and short-distance routes to improve local connectivity.
Storm Water Drainage System to Cover Remaining Parts of Ambala Cantonment After the Sadar Area – Vij
Referring to the administrative approval accorded for installing a storm water drainage system in the remaining parts of Ambala Cantonment, Sh. Vij said that a storm water pipeline network had already been laid earlier across the Sadar area, which proved highly effective. He said that “During the recent monsoon season, water drained out rapidly from Sadar, and no waterlogging was seen in any market. Since the drainage lines are underground, it has also reduced the breeding of mosquitoes and flies.”
He further informed that a similar storm water pipeline system will now be laid across the remaining parts of Ambala Cantonment, for which the State Government has sanctioned Rs. 57.42 crore. The drainage system will extend up to Defence Colony, and the tender process will commence soon, following which the construction work will begin. Sh. Vij reiterated that these initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to improving civic infrastructure and ensuring better quality of life for the residents of Ambala.
