Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister, Sh. Anil Vij extended greetings on the occasion of Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti and formally inaugurated the Shobha Yatra (grand procession) organized by the Agrawal Fellowship Club in Ambala.
Speaking at the inauguration from the Old Grain Market in Ambala Cantt, Sh. Vij emphasized that celebrations of Agrasen Jayanti are taking place across the country, but the procession in Ambala carries a deeper significance. “This is not merely a procession; it is a powerful message of socialism. Maharaja Agrasen is regarded as the father of socialism, who through his principle of ‘one brick, one rupee,’ spread the message of collective responsibility and social equality. The purpose of today’s procession is to take this very message to every household and every individual,” he said.
The Minister further highlighted that Maharaja Agrasen’s philosophy was that no one should remain rich or poor, but rather all should live as equals. “He taught that those who are capable must support those in need, ensuring equality in society. As the progenitor of the Agrawal community, he not only established gotras in the name of his sons but also laid down enduring principles, including the propagation of non-violence. Through his wisdom and able governance, he ruled for around 108 years and spread his message far and wide,” Shri Vij remarked.
Extending his heartfelt greetings on the auspicious occasion, the Minister said, “I have come here today to seek the blessings of Maharaja Agrasen Ji. I am confident that everyone present here continues to live by his noble ideals.”
Earlier in the program, Sh. Anil Vij was warmly welcomed by Club President Rajesh Gupta, along with Aman Agrawal, Vikas Garg, Councillor Mahesh Agrawal, Advocate Rishi Gupta, Pradeep Goyal, Rajendra Goyal, Rakesh Bansal, Ajay Gupta, Amit Agrawal, Pappu Behl and others. The Minister was felicitated with a traditional turban before he ceremonially inaugurated the Shobha Yatra by breaking a coconut.
