Chandigarh, August 28- Haryana Education Minister, Mr. Kanwar Pal said that the National Education Policy will certainly prove to be a milestone for laying foundation for new India of the 21st century, so the education department officers, staff as well as academicians and parents of students should make their valuable contributions in the successful implementation of this policy.
Mr. Kanwar Pal has said that Haryana has performed well in the country by imparting online education to a large number of students during the COVID-19 Pandemic. After Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat, Haryana has topped the country. He said that Haryana has initiated the implementation of this policy for the first time in the country. The plan to open 1000 play schools had been prepared even before the arrival of the National Education Policy. In addition, 98 Sanskriti Model Schools are also being opened.
The Education Minister has also welcomed the initiative taken by the Governor of Haryana, Mr. Satyadeo Narain Arya, who is also the Chancellor of the Universities of the State, by recently organizing a four-day Digital Conclave with academicians on the new National Education Policy at Raj Bhavan.
He informed that Vice-Chancellors, Principals, Head Teachers and other academicians of over 250 schools, colleges and universities gave their suggestions, which will be incorporated in implementing the new National Education Policy. He said that Haryana is the first state in the country to organize such a digital conclave.
Mr. Kanwar Pal said that the President of India, Mr. Ram Nath Kovind, is also very serious about the implementation of the Education Policy and while taking note of the initiative of Digital Conclave organized by Haryana, he has called all the Governor of various states, who are also the Chancellors of their State Universities to organize a similar Conclave in Delhi on September 7, 2020. During this Conclave, the outline of the implementation of the National Education Policy will be reviewed.
The Minister said that the infrastructure of education in the State has already been strengthened. Haryana has become the first State in the country where a college has been opened in a radius of 15 km.
The Education Minister said in last 5 years, 97 new colleges have been opened in the State, whereas only 75 colleges were opened in 48 years after the formation of Haryana. He said that under the National Education Policy, the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) in higher education will be increased to 50 percent by the year 2030, which is currently 26 percent in the country, while in Haryana it is up to 32 percent.
He said that the change that has been desired by people in the education system is visible in this policy and under this, every student, whether studying in nursery or college, will now be able to play a creative role in nation building.
This is for the first time in the Country that 6 percent of the GDP has been earmarked for the education sector under the New Education Policy ensuring that there will be no lack of funds in the implementation of this policy.
