Chandigarh, 25 September 2025

Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister, Sh. Anil Vij said that the present government, following the principles laid down by Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, is working tirelessly for the upliftment of the poor both at the Centre and in the State. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the welfare of the “last person in the queue.( Antyodaya)”

Sh. Vij was addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest at the district-level launch of the Deendayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana at Civil Hospital, Ambala Cantonment. Rajya Sabha MP Sh. Kartikeya Sharma was present as the Special Guest. The programme also included a live broadcast from Panchkula, where a state-level launch was held, and the people heard the Chief Minister’s message.

Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Vij highlighted the significance of the day, marking the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, a great thinker and economist who gave India the guiding philosophy of Antyodaya – the upliftment of the last man. He said that the Central and State governments are implementing numerous welfare schemes for the poor, including Ayushman Bharat, Ujjwala Yojana, and many more. Several initiatives are also being implemented for women’s empowerment.

Launch of Deendayal Lado Lakshmi YojanaOn the auspicious occasion of Navratri, Sh. Vij said that the Deendayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana was launched, aimed at empowering women. As per the election manifesto commitment, the scheme is now being rolled out. In the first phase, nearly 3 million women across Haryana will benefit. An official mobile app for the scheme was also launched. Women between the ages of 23 and 60 will be eligible under the scheme, with no restriction on the number of eligible women per household. The only requirement is that the family’s annual income must not exceed  Rs.1 lakh. The scheme will be implemented in phases to ensure benefits reach all eligible women.

“A Milestone in Women’s Empowerment” – Vij

Sh. Vij emphasized that this scheme will prove highly effective in uplifting women. Beneficiaries do not need to visit government offices, registration and access to benefits can be done seamlessly through the mobile app. He reiterated that the BJP government fulfills what it promises. Taking a jibe at previous governments, Sh. Vij recalled how development funds often dwindled from Rs.100 to just Rs.15 by the time they reached the ground. In contrast, under the BJP government, every rupee sent from the top directly reaches the beneficiaries without leakage. He also highlighted the ongoing Seva Pakhwada, being celebrated from September 17 (the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi) to October 2, featuring cleanliness drives, blood donation camps, health check-up camps, plantation drives, and other public welfare activities.

Earlier, Sh. Vij inspected a health check-up camp jointly organized by the ESIC and Health Department at the hospital premises. He also visited stalls set up by various departments showcasing welfare schemes. He personally reviewed the digital registration process for the Lado Lakshmi Yojana via the mobile app.

Speaking at the program, Rajya Sabha MP Sh. Kartikeya Sharma described the scheme as an ambitious initiative of the government that will undoubtedly empower women. Quoting Prime Minister Modi, he said, “If women in a household are healthy, the family is healthy, and if families are healthy, the society is healthy.” He also appreciated Haryana Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini for taking a strong step toward women’s empowerment by launching this scheme. Sh. Sharma further said that both Central and State governments have introduced multiple schemes for women’s progress, including Drone Didi Yojana, Lakhpati Didi Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, concessions in land registration for women, and 33% reservation in elections for women. The newly launched Lado Lakshmi Yojana will further strengthen women’s role in society.

The programme also featured the screening of a short film on Viksit Bharat (Developed India) and the Deendayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana, produced by the Department of Information, Public Relations, and Languages. On this occasion, SDM Ambala Cantonment Shri Vinesh Kumar and Civil Surgeon Dr. Rakesh Sahal presented a memento and a sapling symbolizing the environment to the Chief Guest Sh. Anil Vij. Similarly, the District Welfare Officer and Social Welfare Department staff honored Rajya Sabha MP Sh. Kartikeya Sharma with a memento.
