Jammu, 31 July 2025:
BJP National General Secretary and J&K BJP Prabhari Tarun Chugh, along with senior party leaders, released a unique literary work titled ‘Ramayan Mala 108 Manka’ — a pocket-sized rendition of the Ramayan in the Dogri language, authored by Naseeb Singh Manhas. The release ceremony was held at the BJP headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
The event was graced by J&K BJP President Sat Sharma, Vice Presidents Priya Sethi and Rekha Mahajan, General Secretaries Sanjita Dogra, Baldev Singh Billawaria, and Gopal Mahajan, along with MLAs Yudhvir Sethi and Ch. Vikram Randhawa, among other dignitaries.
Tarun Chugh congratulated the author and the people of Jammu & Kashmir on this significant cultural milestone. Expressing his joy, Chugh said, “This is the first time that the epic Ramayan has been presented in Dogri in such a simplified, accessible format. The Valmiki Ramayan is not just a spiritual text but a scientific document its references to Nakshatras (celestial constellations) allow precise calculation of the dates of key events.”
He added that such a spiritual and literary contribution could only be possible with the divine blessings of Bhagwan Ram. “This composition connects the spiritual ethos of the Indian subcontinent, from one corner to another. It conveys the eternal values of life, dignity, devotion, sacrifice, and our duties towards society, nation, and family,” Chugh remarked.
Sat Sharma, while unveiling the book, praised the author’s initiative. He appreciated the author’s contribution to Dogri literature and Indian spiritual heritage.
“Writing the Ramayan in Dogri in such a simple and lucid style is truly commendable. This effort will surely inspire more regional literature and connect younger generations to our roots,” Sat Sharma said.
Author Naseeb Singh Manhas expressed gratitude to the BJP leadership and said his aim was to make the essence of the Ramayan available in the local language for everyday reading. “Dogri is our identity. Through ‘Ramayan Mala 108 Manka,’ I’ve tried to simplify the teachings of Ramayan into 108 short verses that resonate with common people,” he said.
