Learned people tell us that <\/span><span class=\"s3\">our ancestors hold the rank equivalent to <\/span><span class=\"s3\">God. They are invited to important family events including marriages. <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Petra Paksha is for remembering them and offer them offerings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s3\">A major myth related to Pitra Paksha is that we should go shopping <\/span><span class=\"s3\">and buy expensive stuff for ourselves as it would make our ancestors happy. <\/span><span class=\"s3\">An Atrologer of Kashi Hindu University, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Vinay Panday, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">says that giving away is the main aspect of this period. It can bring us prosperity and happiness if done in the right manner. <\/span><span class=\"s3\">He says the auspicious period would continue till 17<\/span><span class=\"s4\">th<\/span><span class=\"s3\"> of September. <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Dr. Kameshwar Upadhyaya<\/span><span class=\"s3\"> metions that Tulsidas considered Shiva as a Pitra. <\/span><span class=\"s3\">He goes on to say that there is no relation of buying and purchasing with this period.
