Special programmes should be run to develop the habit of reading among children – Chief Secretary<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chandigarh, January 6 <\/strong>\u2013 Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal has directed the Additional Deputy Commissioners of all the districts of the State to review the activities of Samagra Shiksha every month.\u00a0 Besides this, he also directed them to regularly visit Kasturba Gandhi Schools with special focus on the quality of education in the school. Also, he directed to run a special programme so as to develop the habit of reading in the children, from childhood which will facilitate mental development as well.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sh. Kaushal was presiding over the third meeting of the Haryana School Education Project Council and the Executive Committee of Samagra Shiksha here today.\u00a0 It was informed in the meeting that an annual action plan of about Rs.1442 crore has been approved by the Central Government for the year 2021-22 under Samagra Shiksha in Haryana.\u00a0 It was further informed in the meeting that out of 8733 civil works in the schools of the state, 5264 works have been completed and 1468 works were in progress and will be completed by March 2022. In the meeting, the overall education annual report for 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21 was also approved.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It was also informed in the meeting that Haryana has been selected to lead the Thematic Group on Future Preparation (Skills and Vocational Education for Youth). This project has been implemented in 1074 government schools of the state, under which 1.85 lakh students have been enrolled in 12 different areas.\u00a0 As a pilot project, 50 incubation centres have been set up in 45 schools for 9 different sectors namely Automotive, IT, Retail, Private Security, Beauty & Wellness, Healthcare, Agriculture, Media Entertainment and Tourism.\u00a0 During the meeting it was also informed that the skill development portal was launched by the Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal.\u00a0 So far, 1,47,108 students have enrolled for vocational education on this portal.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It came to light during the meeting that Haryana School Science Promotion Programme\u00a0 is being run in the schools of the State to stimulate the interest of the students towards science in the government primary and secondary schools of the state. Under this programme, science laboratories have also been set up in schools.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It was informed in the meeting that various activities are being organised to inculcate the habit of reading in children under Padhe Bharat Badhe Bharat programme. Apart from this, a new initiative has also been started under which senior citizens come to teach children in schools.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It was informed in the meeting that 32 Kasturba Gandhi Balika\u00a0 Vidyalayas are being run in the State in which more than 2,000 girls students are being imparted education.\u00a0 A proposal has been sent to the government for permission to upgrade 24 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas to Class XII and if permission is granted, classes from Class VI to Class XII can be started in 12 schools from the coming academic session.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It was further informed in the meeting that special training programmes are being run for out of school children.\u00a0 For such children, 1121 special training centres have been established in the current financial year to overcome the gap in education according to their age and to further enhance their learning and reading ability.\u00a0 Under this, 150 juveniles,who have violated law, have also been covered.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It was informed in the meeting that with the aim of improving the quality of education, various training programmes are being run for the teachers.\u00a0 In addition, orientation programmes\u00a0 for teachers are also being conducted at the school level for the safety and security of the students. Apart from this, art and culture exchange programmes are also being organised among the students of Haryana and Telangana under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat to promote art and cultural development in schools.\u00a0 Rani Laxmibai self-defence training programme is being run for teaching girls self-defence.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department, Sh. T.V.S.N.\u00a0 Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary, School Education Department, Sh. Mahavir Singh, Principal Secretary, Women and Child Development Department, Smt.\u00a0 G. Anupama, State Project Director, Haryana Education Project Council, Sh. J.\u00a0 Ganesan and Additional Deputy Commissioners of the districts were also\u00a0 present.<\/p>\n
