Chandigarh, September 28 – The first meeting of the newly formed Technical Committee of Haryana Pond and Waste Water Management Authority was held under the chairmanship of Executive Vice Chairman of the Authority, Mr. Prabhaker Kumar Verma. During the meeting, achievements and working of the authority were discussed in detail.<\/p>\n

Mr. Prabhaker Kumar Verma said that after the formation of Haryana Pond Authority under the \u00a0guidance and foresight of Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, who is also the Chairman of this Authority, a Technical Committee was formed for seeking \u00a0technical advice for the Haryana Pond Authority.<\/p>\n

In the meeting, all the COVID-19 related \u00a0guidelines including \u00a0wearing of masks, sanitization and social distancing were followed. In the meeting, \u00a0discussion over 10731 (urban and rural ) ponds of the state, prepared on PDMS by the Authority in the size of 0.5 acres\u00a0or bigger, along with their complete description, unique IDs and their different classification were placed before the committee.<\/p>\n

Mr. Verma informed that the waste water coming \u00a0from households \u00a0into 18 model ponds which \u00a0are currently under construction \u00a0is pumped into these ponds only \u00a0after treating the water through Constructed Wetland Technology. He also informed that digital drawings of the proposed 200 ponds are being made in the year 2020-21, on the basis of which\u00a0 restoration work will be started soon.<\/p>\n

He informed that as per the recent orders given by the government, data collection\u00a0\u00a0has been started by PDMS for all ponds measuring below 0.5 acres. Simultaneously, the data of garbage and cattle dung being put around\u00a0\u00a0the boundary of the ponds has also been started by the PDMS as per the directives of the NGT.<\/p>\n

In the meeting, some points along with presentations of \u00a0five different agencies for waste water treatment were putforth\u00a0before the committee based on which the committee took important decisions.<\/p>\n

In the meeting, all the members especially Mr. CR Babu, who is also a member of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), appreciated the technology being adopted by the Pond Authority and the work done so far. He also gave important suggestions. He informed that through Constructed Wetland Technology, the polluted \u00a0sewage water is being treated in Neela Hauz Lake in Delhi and the results of which are very good. This technology is very economical as it does not put any additional cost on power and any other.<\/p>\n
