{"id":14928,"date":"2020-10-13T14:49:54","date_gmt":"2020-10-13T09:19:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsmakhani.com\/?p=14928"},"modified":"2020-10-13T14:49:54","modified_gmt":"2020-10-13T09:19:54","slug":"mous-with-premier-academic-institutions-to-boost-manufacture-establishment-of-supercomputing-infrastructure-in-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsnarad.com\/pa\/mous-with-premier-academic-institutions-to-boost-manufacture-establishment-of-supercomputing-infrastructure-in-india\/","title":{"rendered":"MoUs with premier academic institutions to boost manufacture &#038; establishment of supercomputing infrastructure in India"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"qtranxs-available-languages-message qtranxs-available-languages-message-pa\">\u0a2e\u0a3e\u0a2b\u0a3c \u0a15\u0a30\u0a28\u0a3e, \u0a07\u0a39 \u0a16\u0a2c\u0a30 \u0a24\u0a41\u0a39\u0a3e\u0a21\u0a40 \u0a2c\u0a47\u0a28\u0a24\u0a40 \u0a2d\u0a3e\u0a38\u0a3c\u0a3e \u0a35\u0a3f\u0a71\u0a1a \u0a09\u0a2a\u0a32\u0a2c\u0a27 \u0a28\u0a39\u0a40\u0a02 \u0a39\u0a48\u0964 <a href=\"https:\/\/newsmakhani.com\/en\/\">\u0a15\u0a3f\u0a30\u0a2a\u0a3e \u0a15\u0a30\u0a15\u0a47 \u0a07\u0a71\u0a25\u0a47 \u0a26\u0a47\u0a16\u0a4b\u0964<\/a><\/p><p><\/p>\n<h1>MoUs with premier academic institutions to boost manufacture &amp; establishment of supercomputing infrastructure in India<\/h1>\n<p><strong>New Delhi, October 13<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Several premier academic institutions in India will soon partner in indigenous assembling and manufacturing to establish\u00a0supercomputing infrastructure in the country and make the facilities available at an affordable cost.<\/p>\n<p>Centre for Development of Advanced Computing(C-DAC) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology(MeITY) signed\u00a0a total of 13 MoUs with the premier academic and R&amp;D institutions of India for\u00a0establishing Supercomputing Infrastructure with Assembly and Manufacturing in India and Critical Components\u00a0of National Supercomputing Mission in a virtual ceremony held on 12<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0October 2020.<\/p>\n<p><em>Sanjay<\/em>\u00a0Shamrao\u00a0<em>Dhotre,\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ministry_of_Electronics_and_Information_Technology\">Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology<\/a>, stressed that the MoU signing with the premier institutes marks the presence of \u2018Aatmanirbhar Bharat\u2019 and expressed his satisfaction over the progress made in the\u00a0<strong>National Supercomputing Mission<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>initiated by the\u00a0Department of Science and Technology (DST)<\/strong>\u00a0and Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) through Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore.<\/p>\n<p>Prof. Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary Department of Science &amp; Technology, mentioned that the signing of 13 MoUs shows the mission\u2019s speed has picked up, and it is a major boost to computing facility. \u201cIn the last 5 years, major changes took place in the mission where the emphasis was given on design and fabrication of hardware and software of the supercomputers in India. It is indeed on the lines of the clarion call of \u2018Atmanirbhar Bharat\u2019 given by\u00a0Prime Minister,\u201d\u00a0he added.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cSupercomputing is the key to so many areas like\u00a0Computational Biology, Molecular Dynamics, National Security, Computational Chemistry, Cyber-Physical Systems, Big Data Analytics, Government Information Systems, and so on. Armed with artificial intelligence and machine learning, makes it a formidable tool. Progress in this mission will break silos to empower people and make India future-ready and tackle future challenges,\u201d he added.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur goal is to develop own indigenous hardware encompassing exascale chip design, design and manufacture of exascale server boards, exascale interconnects and storage including silicon-photonics at C-DAC to achieve complete self-reliance,\u201d said Dr. Hemant Darbari, Director General, C-DAC.<\/p>\n<p>Smt. Jyoti Arora, Special Secretary, and FA, MeitY and Dr. Rajendra Kumar, Additional Secretary, MeitY were also present during the MoU signing with a host of institutes like IISC Bangalore, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Guwahati, IIT Mandi, IIT Gandhinagar, NIT Trichy, NABI Mohali and NSM Nodal Centres for training in HPC &amp; AI at IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Goa, and IIT Palakkad.<\/p>\n<p>The mission envisages empowering our national academic and R&amp;D institutions to spread over the country by installing a vast supercomputing grid comprising of more than 70 high-performance computing facilities. The mission also includes the development of highly professional High-Performance Computing (HPC) aware human resource for meeting the challenges of development of these applications.
