Chandigarh, July 12 –\u00a0<\/strong> Union Textiles Minister,\u00a0 Sh. Piyush Goyal while\u00a0 giving a big gift to Haryana today\u00a0 inaugurated the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). On this occasion, Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi and Central Government for giving Haryana, especially Panchkula, an Institution of national importance.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He said that with the inauguration of this campus another step forward has been taken by the State Government for the development of the State.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cThis is the 17th campus of the country which has been today inaugurated in Panchkula and will be developed as a world-class NIFT Campus”, said the Chief Minister.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Sh. Manohar Lal said that it was on December 29, 2016, when the then Union Textiles Minister, Smt. Smriti Irani had laid the foundation stone of this Institute.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The Chief Minister informed that an amount of Rs 133.16 crore has been spent on the construction of this Institute built on 10.45 acres of land.\u00a0 The NIFT campus has been established in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Textiles and NIFT, Delhi, added Sh. Manohar Lal.<\/div>\n

The Chief Minister said that whatever works are required to be done in the second phase in the Institute, will soon be done.\u00a0 He also appealed to the Union Minister for cooperation for completion of the second phase.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The Chief Minister said that if the Union Minister agrees to the State’s proposal, then the work of second phase will be completed on the basis of 50:50 ratio.<\/div>\n

Sh. Manohar Lal said that in the second phase, there are plans to build hostels, theaters and auditoriums.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The Chief Minister said that as per the policy of NIFT, 20 percent of seats in this Institute will be reserved for the domiciles of Haryana. The Institute will offer Four Year Degree Courses in the areas of Fashion Design\/Textile Design, Apparel Production and Two Year Master Degree Courses in Fashion Technology, Design and Fashion Management. Apart from this, there will also be certificate programmes of one year and six months duration, he added.<\/div>\n

Sh. Manohar Lal further shared that in the temporary campus of NIFT at Government Polytechnic Institute, Panchkula, short-duration courses were started from the academic session 2019-20. At present, there are three Under Graduate courses with a total of 259 students. Besides this two Post Graduate Courses are also being offered here.<\/div>\n

He said that from the academic session 2022-23 one more Under Graduate Course has been started and with the inauguration of this new NIFT campus, students who desire to make a career in the field of Fashion Design will not have to go out for their further studies.<\/div>\n

The Chief Minister said that this newly inaugurated NIFT campus in Panchkula would certainly give a major boost to the Textile, Handloom and Cottage industries in the state. There will certainly be no placement problem for the students who would be passing out from NIFT. There is a great demand for such professionals in national and international companies,\u201d said Sh. Manohar Lal.<\/div>\n

The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi has given the slogan of \u2018Atmanirbhar Bharat\u2019. His vision can be realized only through skilling. That’s why Haryana has connected education with skilling.<\/div>\n

The National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) in schools, ‘Pahal Scheme’ in colleges,\u00a0 setting up Incubation Centers in Universities and signing of MoUs with industrial giants for providing\u00a0 training in Technical Institutes as per the needs of industries are among the effective steps taken by the State Government, said Sh. Manohar Lal.<\/div>\n

Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister,\u00a0 Sh. Piyush Goyal said that he is confident that this campus of NIFT will emerge as a landmark campus. The professionals passing out from this prestigious Institute will make a remarkable contribution to the fashion world.<\/div>\n

The Union Minister while praising the Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that way he gave priority to the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign in the state has certainly played a pivotal role in empowering women.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He said that he is hopeful that the daughters studying in this new campus of NIFT would also bring laurels to the State. The Union Minister also assured that the work of the second phase in the Institute will also be started soon.<\/div>\n

Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Sh. Gian Chand Gupta, Education Minister, Sh. Kanwar Pal, MP,\u00a0 Sh. Rattan Lal Kataria, Additional Chief Secretary, Technical Education Department, Sh. Anand Mohan Sharan and other senior officials also remained present on this occasion.<\/div>\n
