\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0In order to strengthen the security at Border districts of the state on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Mann, Punjab Police in a joint operation with Border Security Force (BSF) conducted a night domination\/checking near the second line of defence followed by search and cordon operation in the border villages on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u201cAt least 10-hour long midnight operation was held\u00a0in\u00a0all the seven border districts of Punjab including Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Batala, Amritsar-Rural, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur and Fazilka,\u201d said\u00a0Gaurav Yadav,\u00a0Director General of Police (DGP) here on Friday.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The operation took place at a time when Punjab, which shares 553 Kms of International Border with Pakistan has been\u00a0seeing a\u00a0huge influx of consignments of drugs (heroin), arms\/ammunition, explosives, grenades etc\u00a0through drones and other means. This signals that\u00a0major attempts\u00a0are\u00a0being made by anti-national elements to disturb\u00a0the\u00a0peace and communal harmony in the border state.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0ADGP Law and Order Dr Naresh Arora accompanied by IGP Border Range Mohnish Chawla and SSP Amritsar Rural Swapan Sharma led the\u00a0operation in different villages of Amritsar Rural, while seven more Senior Officers of Punjab Police of the rank of IGsP\/DIGsP\/ AIGsP personally supervised the operation in seven border districts and guided the SSPs\u00a0of these districts.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Giving out more details, DGP Gaurav Yadav said that the operation included all-nights nakas at around 100 places in the\u00a0border districts, followed by\u00a0 special search and cordon operations\u00a0of\u00a0suspected houses and villages. All the SSPs of the concerned districts have mobilised maximum manpower for this operation, he said, adding that as many as 60 Gazetted Officers and 2500 NGOs\/EPOs including 28 Armed Police Coys were deputed to conduct this operation.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Calling for total synergy and teamwork between BSF and Punjab Police, DGP Gaurav Yadav said that it\u00a0is time\u00a0that both the elite forces should work as one team to counter this new threat\u00a0from across the borders.<\/p>\n
