Krishi Vigyan Kendre (KVK) Nyoma in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendre (KVK) Zanskar today organized a vermicompost training program at village Ubarak of Sub Division Zanskar.<\/div>\n

Executive Councilor Tourism, RD and Zanskar Affairs, Er Punchok Tashi was the chief guest on the occasion. Block Development Officer Zanskar, Block Agriculture Officer Zanskar, Station House Officer Zanskar, Program Coordinator KVK Nyoma and Program Coordinator KVK Zanskar were also present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, EC Tashi assured to provide all financial and logistic support through various government schemes to boost the organic cultivation in the sub-division.<\/div>\n

He also stressed the farmers to focus more on cash crops in the pattern of Lahaul Spiti HP so that farmers generate more income and helps them to improve their livelihood. EC also appraised the hard work of Program Coordinator KVK Nyoma Dr. Jigmath Yangchan for her selfless effort in making Ladakh a chemical-free zone by visiting different villages with team of experts in the field of bio cultivation.<\/div>\n

Earlier, Dr Jigmath Yangchan welcomed the guests and stressed the farmers to shift toward organic farming in order to make whole Ladakh free from chemical fertilizers and pesticides. She also talked about value addition of organic farming. On the occasion Program Coordinator KVK Zanskar, Block Agriculture Officer, Block Development Officer had also enlightened the farmers with their noble thoughts.<\/div>\n

Later, momentos were also presented to the special guests and tarpaulin was distributed among farmers in presence of the Executive Councilor. In the end, a vermicompost expert Tsering Stobdan explained and practically demonstrated the making process of vermicompost to the farmers.<\/div>\n
