\u201cThe Urban Square encapsulates our commitment to fostering urban empowerment, showcasing the creativity and resilience of our urban artisans and entrepreneurs. This festivity is a testament to our dedication towards creating an inclusive and self-reliant urban landscape.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Shri Hardeep Singh Puri,\u00a0Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs, inaugurated the \u2018URBAN SQUARE\u2019, an exhibition offering visitors an immersive urban experience with a diverse spectrum of products, including handlooms, upcycled d\u00e9cor, pottery, packaged food, handicrafts and \u00a0delectable street food. With participation from 150 exhibitors, including urban Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under DAY-NULM and street food vendors under PM SVANidhi, representing diverse regions of the country, the exhibition celebrates the spirit and skills of marginalized urban communities.<\/p>\n

The showcase event organized at ITPO, is part of the \u2018AtmaNirbhar Bharat Utsav\u2019 at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, under the guidance of Hon\u2019ble Prime Minister\u2019s \u2018AtmaNirbhar Bharat\u2019 vision. The event commenced on 3rd<\/sup>\u00a0January and will run until 10th<\/sup>\u00a0January 2024.<\/p>\n

\u2018URBAN SQUARE\u2019 also attempts to communicate the ingredients of what makes an inclusive city. Comprising streets and squares, the exhibition makes space for the marginalized section of our cities- the urban poor, by integrating the street vendors and urban self-help group members in a public space built for people from all walks of life. The different squares are allocated for specific kinds of products and have a central seating and recreational space much like chowks or public squares in cities.
