The\u00a0Neem Summit & Global\u00a0Neem\u00a0Trade fair is being organized by collaboration with lCAR-Central Agroforestry Research Institute, Jhansi in New Delhi on 19-20 February 2024. The event began with the opening\u00a0of\u00a0a Trade Fair by Secretary, DARE and\u00a0DG,\u00a0ICAR\u00a0Dr\u00a0Himanshu Pathak.\u00a022\u00a0companies participated in the trade\u00a0fair\u00a0from India and\u00a0abroad\u00a0who showcased their products. Following this, Secretary, DARE\u00a0and\u00a0DG, ICAR Dr. Himanshu Pathak inaugurated\u00a0the\u00a0Neem\u00a0Summit\u00a0along with Guests\u00a0of\u00a0Honour\u00a0–\u00a0Dr. P.K. Singh, Agricultural Production Commissioner,\u00a0and\u00a0Justice Honorable K.T. Tated, Chairman, Human Rights Commission, Government\u00a0of\u00a0Maharashtra.<\/p>\n

The seminar is\u00a0being\u00a0attended\u00a0by\u00a0nearly 250 participants, amongst which 10 are from overseas. The theme of the seminar is Neem for sustainable Agriculture, health and Environment. WNO president Dr. B.N. Vyas welcomed the guests; Dr A. Arunachalam introduced the\u00a0program\u00a0and Dr Rajbir Singh gave induction remarks on the Neem.<\/p>\n

Distinguished guests highlighted the importance of Neem in human wellbeing. With the Country’s priority of promoting neem\u00a0coated\u00a0urea and neem-based health products, growing neem in the country becomes\u00a0vital\u00a0and this calls for a national level mission.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Over all, the Summit flagged neem as\u00a0a\u00a0plantation forestry option that would sustain\u00a0the\u00a0raw material requirements\u00a0of\u00a0industry.\u00a0At the same\u00a0time,\u00a0neem\u00a0trees\u00a0for\u00a0carbon farming was also advocated in\u00a0the\u00a0program.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The 2 days program has about\u00a07\u00a0technical sessions to deliberate on various technical matters pertaining to neem research and development for society and industry. The Souvenir, WNO Calendar and Technical Bulletin titled \u201cNeem Field Gene Bank – Provisioning Opportunities for Conservation and Utilization\u201d were released followed by WNO Documentary launch.<\/p>\n

Outstanding Contributions (WNO& SSCE Awards) were presented by the Guests of Honour Dr PK Singh, Agriculture Production Commissioner, Justice Honorable K.T. Tated, Chairperson, Maharashtra Human Rights Commission and the Chief Guest Dr Himanshu Pathak, Director General, ICAR. The Secretary General Dr. Nirmala Kothari proposed the\u00a0Vote\u00a0of\u00a0Thanks.<\/p>\n
