Under the Sampoorna Abhiyan Program, as per the directions of Deputy Commissioner\/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, a significant outreach event was held in the aspirational villages of Akshow and Ating, located in Karsha aspirational Block, Zanskar.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The event was organized under the chairmanship of Dr. Gulzar Hussain, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer (CAHO) Kargil, and witnessed active participation from the local community, particularly women folk and Self Help Group.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
During the program, Dr. Ashiq Hussain, Livestock Development Officer (LDO) Zanskar, provided valuable insights on Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and other common livestock diseases and other zoonotic importance diseases.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He emphasized the importance of preventive measures and informed the villagers about effective disease management practices.<\/div>\n

Diskit, Coordinator for the Aspirational Village Program in Karsha, outlined the objectives of the program, highlighting the importance of community involvement in achieving the desired developmental outcomes.<\/div>\n

The CAHO Kargil elaborated on the various schemes and services offered by the Animal Husbandry Department. He specifically highlighted the recently launched Mobile Veterinary Van service, which is now operational throughout Kargil district.<\/div>\n

This service, accessible via the helpline number 1962, ensures that veterinary care is available at the farmers’ doorsteps, providing timely assistance when needed.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The CAHO stressed the importance of farmer cooperation with the department\u2019s staff during the upcoming FMD vaccination campaign.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He urged the community to actively participate in the 21st Livestock Census, scheduled to begin on September 01, 2024. Information about other beneficial schemes such as Kisan Credit Card (KCC) was also shared with the villagers.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
In a move to enhance the health and productivity of livestock in the region, the department distributed 70 quintals of livestock feed among the villagers.<\/div>\n

Dr. Gulzar Hussain expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Director of Animal Husbandry, UT Ladakh, for his generosity in approving the feed distribution, recognizing his crucial role in supporting the welfare of these communities.<\/div>\n

The event concluded with Nambardar and other community leaders expressing their deep gratitude to the Animal Husbandry Department for its continued support and efforts to improve livestock health and overall agricultural sustainability in the region.<\/div>\n
