The course is being\u00a0coordinated\u00a0by the Skill Development Cell and Postgraduate Department of Commerce at the college. Spanning\u00a0over\u00a07\u00a0days,\u00a0the course\u00a0aims to create\u00a0trained personnel for taxation related jobs as well as for entrepreneurship, by\u00a0providing\u00a0holistic understanding of\u00a0Goods and Service Tax along with\u00a0the practical aspects of registration\u00a0and return filing under GST.\u00a0Participants\u00a0from various higher educational institutions of the tricity\u00a0have registered for the course.\u00a0The\u00a0members of the\u00a0non-teaching\u00a0office\u00a0staff of the college\u00a0are also attending\u00a0the course\u00a0as a part of\u00a0capacity building and professional development.\u00a0The first session\u00a0of the course\u00a0was conducted by\u00a0CA\u00a0Ankur Sharma.\u00a0He\u00a0gave an introduction to the taxation system in India and\u00a0provided\u00a0a bird\u2019s eye view of the concept of GST with practical examples.\u00a0For the second session\u00a0the resource person was\u00a0CA Jatin\u00a0Rathour. CA Rathour\u00a0discussed the\u00a0basic terminologies of GST\u00a0Act, 2017\u00a0in India\u00a0along with the features and benefits of GST.\u00a0Both\u00a0the sessions\u00a0of the first day\u00a0were\u00a0highly interactive and\u00a0the participants\u00a0enthusiastically took part in discussions\u00a0with the resource persons.<\/p>\n<p>Officiating Principal\u00a0Ms. Suman Mahajan\u00a0expressed gratitude\u00a0to Prof. Suveera Gill, Director, CSDE, Panjab University,\u00a0for her support and encouragement.
