Deputy Commissioner\/Chairman, District Level Steering Committee for Lakhpati Didi Initiative, Shrikant Suse today chaired the first District Level Steering Committee meeting to review the implementation of \u2018Lakhpati Didi Initiative\u2019 in the district.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The meeting was attended by ADC Kargil, DSWO Kargil, ACD Kargil, CPO Kargil and heads\/representatives of the various line departments as well as program coordinator SKUAST Kargil and UT Nodal officer skill Development (Higher Education).<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
At the outset of the meeting, a detailed presentation was delivered by District Project Manager, Kargil, National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) Muneer Rasool who highlighting the objectives and progress of this ambitious initiative.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The \u2018Lakhpati Didi Initiative\u2019, spearheaded by Ladakh Rural Livelihood Mission (LRLM), aims to empower women Self-Help Group (SHG) members by enabling them to achieve an annual household income of over Rs 1 lakh.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
This initiative focuses on creating sustainable livelihoods, capacity building, and strengthening market linkages to foster women entrepreneurs across Kargil.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Through a PPT presentation, various success stories of SHGs were showcased. The meeting was informed that 145 Didis have achieved Lakhpati status and 1,426 potential Lakhpati Didis have been identified.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
DC directed to prepare comprehensive action plan to achieve the target of Lakhpati Didis with convergence of various initiatives taken by departments related to farm and non-farm activities outlining strategies and actions required for achieving the initiative\u2019s goals.<\/div>\n

The Deputy Commissioner instructed ACD Kargil to operationalize all CFCs (under the RDD scheme) as Livelihood Support Centres in every Block.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He also directed the CPO to propose sufficient funds to provide 3 phase electricity connections for the VDVK Centre under the CAPEX fund for the FY 2025-26.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
During the meeting, it was decided to prioritize SHG products in government programs, meetings, and events to support the local SHGs.<\/div>\n
DC Kargil further directed the Cooperatives Department to allocate space in supermarkets for SHG products.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The NRLM shared insights into the steps already taken including training Community Resource Persons (CRPs) to identify potential Lakhpati Didis to facilitate credit linkages with banks and supporting participation in Saras exhibitions.<\/div>\n
