The Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) has launched a pioneering campaign to eliminate proxy representation and promote genuine women leadership at the grassroots level. As part of this initiative,\u00a0MoPR has collaborated with The Viral Fever (TVF) for the production of a series of\u00a0 compelling digital content that addresses critical issues affecting local rural governance. Created within the universe of the widely acclaimed web-series Panchayat, this production by TVF features renowned actors like Neena Gupta, Chandan Roy, and Faisal Malik.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first of these productions, \u201cAsli Pradhan Kaun?\u201d<\/em>\u00a0premiered on 4th<\/sup>\u00a0March, 2025, coinciding with the launch of the Ministry\u2019s \u201cSashakt Panchayat Netri Abhiyan\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0(\u0938\u0936\u0915\u094d\u0924 \u092a\u0902\u091a\u093e\u092f\u0924-\u0928\u0947\u0924\u094d\u0930\u0940 \u0905\u092d\u093f\u092f\u093e\u0928). The film was screened at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi before an audience of over 1,200 elected women representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions from across the country.<\/p>\n

The film \u2018Asli Pradhan Kaun?<\/em>\u2019, illustrates how effectively a woman Gram Pradhan exercises her powers for\u00a0 public welfare. \u201cAsli Pradhan Kaun?\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 addresses the issue of \u2018Sarpanch Pati\u2019 culture \u2013 where male family members unofficially represent elected women leaders \u2013 a practice that undermines the constitutional mandate of women representation in Panchayati Raj Institutions<\/strong>. Speaking about her role, acclaimed\u00a0actor<\/strong>\u00a0Neena Gupta<\/strong>\u00a0said, \u201cIt\u2019s always a pleasure to be part of stories that have a purpose.\u00a0Asli Pradhan Kaun?<\/em>\u00a0is not just another production \u2013 it is a reflection of real-life challenges faced by women in rural India.<\/strong>\u00a0I am excited for audiences to see how beautifully this message has been conveyed through storytelling\u201d.<\/p>\n

This initiative comes in the wake of the recent Report on \u201cTransforming Women\u2019s Representation and Roles in Panchayati Raj Systems and Institutions: Eliminating Efforts for Proxy Participation\u201d,<\/strong>\u00a0which has gained wider attention and gathered momentum in favour of the Ministry\u2019s consistent efforts to strengthen genuine women leadership in local governance. As part of its comprehensive approach, the Ministry will release two additional productions focusing on:<\/p>\n

  1. Digital Intervention and Transparency<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Showcasing how technology can transform rural governance<\/li>\n
  2. Own Source Revenue<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Highlighting the importance of financial independence \/ self-reliance for Panchayats<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Also featuring actors Durgesh Kumar and Bullu Kumar, these upcoming releases will further advance the Ministry\u2019s mission to create impactful change at the grassroots level. The year-long \u201cSashakt Panchayat Netri Abhiyan\u201d is designed to enhance the capacity and effectiveness of Women Elected Representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions across the country. It will focus on building skills and confidence of women elected to Panchayati Raj positions, ensuring they can exercise their constitutional rights and responsibilities effectively.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
