Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav after spending the night in Mandu on Wednesday, explored the historical and archaeological marvels of the town on Thursday morning. He visited prominent heritage sites including Jahaaz Mahal and Hindola Mahal, where officials from the Archaeological Department briefed him on the significance and history of these monuments.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Yadav in the previous evening, also attended the light and sound show in Mandu, which presented the rich history of the region. Union Minister of State Smt. Savitri Thakur, Dharampuri MLA Shri Kalusingh Thakur, along with other public representatives and senior officials, were present during the visit.<\/span><\/p>\n

Chief Minister saw the ancient tree of Khurasani Imli<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav<\/strong> visited the ancient Khurasani Tamarind tree located within the Khurasani Kothi premises in Mandu. Dhar Collector Shri Priyank \"\"Mishra informed him that Khurasani Tamarind trees are native to Mandu, with some dating back over 500 years. The trunk of the tree at Khurasani Kothi has an impressive diameter of 10.85 meters. Known for their dense shade, these trees are also remarkable for their ability to store up to 1.25 lakh liters of water within their trunks.These historic trees were originally planted in the 14th century, and many in the region are between 500 and 600 years old. Mandu Tamarind has become a popular souvenir among tourists, contributing to the livelihood of several tribal families who earn income by selling it. Khurasani Tamarind is originally found in Africa, Arabia, and Madagascar. These trees are known for their massive size and extraordinary longevity, with lifespans that can span thousands of years. In Marathi-speaking regions, the tree is referred to as Gorakhchinch<\/i> (where chinch<\/i> means tamarind), and it is considered sacred due to its association with Saint Gorakhnath.<\/span><\/p>\n

Offered Prayers to Maa Narmada in Dharampuri<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, accompanied by public representatives, visited the holy Narmada River in Dharampuri and performed rituals on its banks. Dharampuri, a town located along the Narmada, is home to an island known as Bent, situated between two streams of the river. On this island stands the ancient temple of Shri Bilvamriteshwar Mahadev. Chief Minister offered prayers and performed the abhishek<\/i> of Lord Shiva at the temple. He also paid homage at the nearby statue of Maharishi Dadhichi, believed to mark the sage\u2019s place of penance and final resting site. As per mythology, it was at this sacred spot that Lord Indra approached Maharishi Dadhichi to seek his bones for the creation of a weapon to defeat a demon.Dr. Yadav instructed officials to ensure the comprehensive protection and preservation of the Shri Bilvamriteshwar Mahadev Temple and the Bent island.<\/span><\/p>\n
