Energy Minister Anil Vij Inspects Construction of 100-Bedded Building at Ambala Cantonment Civil Hospital<\/p>\n

Chandigarh, 24 September 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n

Haryana\u2019s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister, Sh. Anil Vij said that the construction of a new 100-bedded building at Ambala Cantonment Civil Hospital is progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed soon. The facility will primarily house a state-of-the-art Critical Care Unit (CCU), ensuring that patients no longer need to travel elsewhere for advanced treatment. Additionally, work to install a PET scan at the Cancer Hospital will also commence shortly.<\/p>\n

Sh. Vij made these remarks while inspecting the construction site of the 100-bedded facility at Ambala Cantonment Civil Hospital today.<\/p>\n

During the inspection, he reviewed the progress with PWD officials and representatives of the construction agency. He instructed them to expedite the work so that patients visiting the hospital can benefit at the earliest. The new building is being constructed at a cost of approximately Rs.14.79 crore. Present during the inspection were PWD Executive Engineer Ritesh Agarwal, CMO Dr. Rakesh Sehl, PMO Dr. Pooja, and other officials.<\/p>\n

Hospital Capacity to Double to 200 Beds<\/b><\/p>\n

With the completion of the new 100-bedded building, the total capacity of Ambala Civil Hospital will increase to 200 beds. This expansion will significantly ease the pressure on the hospital, which currently operates with just 100 beds, insufficient to meet the growing number of patients.<\/p>\n

Seven-Storey Building with Comprehensive Facilities<\/strong>
\nThe new facility will consist of seven floors, including two basements:
\n\u2022 Two Basement Floors \u2013 One floor dedicated to vehicle parking and another to house an AC plant and gas plant.
\n\u2022 Ground Floor \u2013 Registration and reception center, emergency services, toilets, and other amenities.
\n\u2022 First Floor \u2013 Emergency ward with 28 beds.
\n\u2022 Second Floor \u2013 Infectious ICU (Intensive Care Unit).
\n\u2022 Third Floor \u2013 Infectious OT, super-specialty OT, and wards.
\n\u2022 Fourth Floor \u2013 Infectious OT, super-specialty OT, and wards.<\/p>\n

Critical Care Unit to Save Lives<\/b><\/p>\n

The 100-bedded building will be developed as a Critical Care Unit, equipped to provide specialized medical support during emergencies. The CCU will feature advanced monitoring systems, essential medicines, and critical decision-making facilities based on patient conditions.
\nThe unit will allow doctors to closely monitor vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, and other indicators, enabling immediate treatment for any complications. Facilities will include oxygen support, emergency procedures, post-care recovery, and specialized wards for COVID-19 and other infectious diseases.
