The much-hyped Working Committee meeting of the National Conference held in Srinagar has turned out to be a complete disappointment for the people of Jammu & Kashmir. Citizens expected clarity on the total governance breakdown, on unfulfilled election promises, and on a concrete roadmap for peace, development and progress. Instead, after two days of deliberations, the outcome is another betrayal \u2014 nothing substantive, nothing reassuring, nothing visionary. This was stated by Girdhari Lal Raina – former MLC and spokesperson of BJP Jk-UT.<\/p>\n

The so-called resolutions are not new. They are merely repetitions of outdated rhetoric that the public has already rejected, GL Raina asserted. If there is any clear message from the Working Committee, it is simply the intent to silence dissent and secure loyalty to the dynastic hierarchy, he added. Even in this, the leadership appeared weak and indecisive, unable to take firm action on so-called indiscipline within its own ranks, he added further.<\/p>\n

On governance and poll promises, Ex-MLC claimed that the meeting had exposed the ruling party\u2019s double standards.The widely advertised election pledge of 200 free electricity units has now been diluted, with the Chief Minister admitting that it \u201ccan only be implemented through wider metering,\u201d pointed out GL Raina. The silence on other major commitments \u2014 enhanced social welfare pensions, jobs for youth, regularisation of daily wagers and increased PDS ration \u2014 is equally telling and confirms a deliberate attempt to run away from accountability, he emphasised.<\/p>\n

Taking a dig at Omar Abdullah, BJP spokesperson exclaimed that in the media briefing, the Chief Minister once again sought refuge behind the statehood narrative, without offering any convincing explanation for the government\u2019s inability to mobilise resources to fulfil its own promises.<\/p>\n

Shockingly, GL Raina stressed that, Even on terrorism \u2014 an issue of utmost seriousness \u2014 the conclusions of the Working Committee were half-hearted, bordering on justification of violent acts through diversionary arguments. Not a single concrete plan was presented to counter terrorism, radicalisation, or its penetration into educational and professional institutions.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister\u2019s claim that terrorism will reduce only when NC is \u201cgiven responsibility\u201d is laughable, misleading and contrary to historical facts- he explained. Reminding NC leadership that records clearly show that during NC\u2019s tenure from 2008 to 2014, Jammu & Kashmir witnessed high casualties and major terror-related incidents, including the mishandling of the 2010 unrest which tragically claimed numerous precious lives , BJP spokesperson opined that To ask people to \u201cjudge us by our performance\u201d when that performance is already marked by instability and loss is an insult to public memory.<\/p>\n

Criticising the attempt to communalise the so-called \u201cbulldozer action\u201d , GL Raina said that this tendency reflects NC\u2019s old toolkit of polarisation and anti-Jammu politics. As the authority in charge of JDA operations, the NC government has the responsibility to clear illegal encroachments on government and forest land without harassment of ordinary citizens. Instead of deflecting blame and deepening social divides, the Chief Minister must present a clear and transparent policy to address encroachments if the intent is genuine governance, he asked.<\/p>\n

The people of Jammu & Kashmir deserve accountability, development and stability \u2014 not recycled rhetoric, dynastic control and polarisation Ex-MLC stressed. The Working Committee meeting has unfortunately confirmed that the National Conference has neither the vision nor the will to meet the aspirations of the people, he observed.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
