The meeting brought together senior health officers and more than 25 corporate stakeholders including public and private banks for channelling investment into critical healthcare services.

The deliberations were anchored in compelling data presented from the state’s e-Upchaar system, which revealed that district hospitals handled an overwhelming 95.71 lakh outpatient department (OPD) visits in 2025. District hospitals in Panchkula, Gurugram, Karnal, and Faridabad recorded particularly high patient footfall, reflecting the increasing reliance on public healthcare facilities. It was informed in the meeting that the state has a robust network of 3,402 health facilities, including 74 district hospitals, 33 urban dispensaries, 25 polyclinics/urban health centers, and 3,270 facilities (122 CHCs, 408 PHCs, 2,740 Sub-Centres).

This surge in patient numbers underscores the urgent need to upgrade infrastructure, expand diagnostic capabilities, and equip hospitals with modern medical technologies to meet growing demand efficiently.

A central theme of the meeting was the transformative role of CSR-funded medical equipment in bridging critical gaps in healthcare delivery, especially in rural and underserved regions. It was highlighted that CSR interventions are already enabling government hospitals to provide advanced diagnostic and treatment services that were previously unavailable.

With approximately 1,000 haemophilia patients in the state incurring treatment costs of Rs. 4–5 lakh per patient annually, corporate entities are being invited to fund treatment — estimated at Rs. 50 crore per year. Recently, BPCL under its Corporate Social Responsibility programme have provide 150 Truenat Quattro molecular diagnostic machines valued at approximately Rs. 20.5 crore. Apart from this, Biomedical Equipment worth Rs 5.29 crores approx has been received under CSR which includes equipment such Colour Doppler, Ultrasound machine, Anaesthesia workstations and floor cleaning machines for various districts of Haryana.

Patients are now benefiting from free access to high-end diagnostic tests, significantly reducing out-of-pocket expenditure and dependence on private healthcare providers. Moreover, early detection of serious illnesses such as cancer and cardiac conditions is improving treatment outcomes and saving lives.

The meeting reviewed a comprehensive list of priority equipment to be deployed through CSR support. These include digital mammography machines for early cancer detection, DEXA machines for bone health assessment, arthroscopy systems with 4K imaging, anaesthesia workstations, advanced life support ambulances, laparoscopy surgical sets, ultrasound colour Doppler machines, and orthopaedic surgical tools.

The introduction of such advanced technologies at the district level is expected to significantly enhance the capacity of public hospitals, enabling them to handle complex medical cases locally and reducing the burden on tertiary care centres in major cities. Dr. Misra stated that the state is targeting Rs. 100 crore in CSR funds for the current financial year to bolster public health infrastructure.

Dr. Misra emphasized that CSR in healthcare should be viewed not merely as a statutory obligation but as a strategic partnership that delivers mutual benefits. She noted that corporate contributors gain enhanced brand credibility, stronger stakeholder trust, and alignment with meaningful social impact initiatives. At the same time, such collaborations create a sustainable model where public health systems are strengthened without placing additional financial strain on government resources.

The initiative aligns with the Health Department’s broader mandate to ensure equitable, accessible, and quality healthcare services for every citizen. By strengthening infrastructure and expanding diagnostic capabilities, the state aims to reduce healthcare costs for individuals, improve maternal and infant health indicators, and build a resilient healthcare system, particularly in rural areas.

Haryana’s structured and transparent approach to integrating CSR with public healthcare delivery is emerging as a model for other states. With nearly one crore patients already availing services annually, the need for scalable and sustainable solutions has never been more pressing.

Corporate partnerships to upgrade government hospitals, bringing advanced and affordable healthcare to millions Chandigarh, 13 April 2026 Haryana’s Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Sumita Misra, chaired a high-level meeting aimed at leveraging Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partnerships to […]

[181,182,122,4
50979,121994,121995,56731
0":"post-220172","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-chandigarh","8":"category-haryana","9":"category-news","10":"category-politics","11":"tag-corporate-social-responsibility","12":"tag-haryanas-additional-chief-secretary","13":"tag-health-and-family-welfare-dr-sumita-misra","14":"tag-news-makhani
["GET
