BJP Spokesperson and Convenor, International Affairs Department, Gaurav Gupta, today launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party following the release of official GDP figures showing India’s economy growing at an impressive 7.7 percent in FY 2025-26 and 7.8 percent in the fourth quarter, asserting that the data has completely demolished the opposition’s false and malicious narrative of a “dead economy.”<\/p>\n

Gupta said the latest economic indicators are a resounding endorsement of the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a fitting reply to those who have consistently attempted to undermine India’s achievements for political gains. He said Rahul Gandhi’s repeated attempts to portray India as an economically distressed nation have not only been proven wrong but have also exposed the Congress party’s disconnect from ground realities and the aspirations of the people.<\/p>\n

“At a time when the entire world is acknowledging India’s rise as a major economic power and growth engine, Rahul Gandhi chose to echo narratives that demeaned the country and insulted the hard work of millions of Indians. By endorsing the description of India as a ‘dead economy,’ he did not attack the government alone; he insulted Indian entrepreneurs, farmers, workers, professionals, innovators and youth who are driving the nation’s progress,” Gupta said.<\/p>\n

He noted that the GDP growth rate of 7.7 percent, which surpasses both last year’s growth and earlier estimates, reflects the inherent strength of the Indian economy and the success of transformative reforms undertaken under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. Gupta said the robust expansion in manufacturing, services, investment and consumption demonstrates that India’s economic fundamentals remain strong despite global uncertainties, geopolitical tensions and external challenges.<\/p>\n

Gupta stated that while Congress leaders were busy spreading pessimism and attempting to create doubts about India’s future, the Modi Government was focused on delivering results through unprecedented infrastructure development, digital transformation, financial inclusion, ease of doing business reforms, startup promotion, industrial expansion and welfare initiatives that have empowered every section of society.<\/p>\n

“The figures released by the Government of India have exposed the hollowness of Congress propaganda. Manufacturing has recorded remarkable growth, investments have increased significantly, consumer demand has strengthened and key sectors of the economy have posted impressive performances. These achievements are not the result of chance but the outcome of decisive leadership, policy consistency and the trust reposed by citizens in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a developed India,” he said.<\/p>\n

Taking a direct swipe at Rahul Gandhi, Gupta said that every prediction of economic doom made by the Congress party over the past decade has been proven wrong. Whether it was GST reforms, digital payments, Make in India, Startup India, infrastructure expansion or financial reforms, Congress opposed every major initiative that has today become a pillar of India’s growth story.<\/p>\n

“It is ironic that those responsible for policy paralysis, corruption scandals and economic stagnation during their tenure now seek to lecture the nation on economic management. The people of India have repeatedly rejected such negativity because they can see the transformation taking place around them. The latest GDP figures are yet another reminder that India’s future is being shaped by performance and vision, not by cynical politics,” Gupta remarked.<\/p>\n

He said the Congress party owes an apology to the nation for repeatedly attempting to tarnish India’s image before the world and for questioning the country’s economic capabilities. Gupta added that the achievements reflected in the latest GDP data belong to 140 crore Indians whose determination, innovation and hard work have enabled the country to emerge as one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies.<\/p>\n

Congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, India’s workforce, farmers, entrepreneurs, industrialists and youth, Gupta said the strong growth figures reaffirm the country’s march towards the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047 and demonstrate that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, India will continue to scale new heights of prosperity, development and global influence.<\/p>\n

“The verdict of facts is clear. India’s economy is not dead; it is thriving, expanding and leading.
