{"id":28637,"date":"2021-02-22T14:08:41","date_gmt":"2021-02-22T08:38:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsmakhani.com\/?p=28637"},"modified":"2021-02-22T14:08:41","modified_gmt":"2021-02-22T08:38:41","slug":"india-eu-joint-committee-on-st-cooperation-creates-action-oriented-agenda-focusing-on-ict","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsnarad.com\/pa\/india-eu-joint-committee-on-st-cooperation-creates-action-oriented-agenda-focusing-on-ict\/","title":{"rendered":"India-EU Joint Committee on S&#038;T Cooperation creates action-oriented agenda focusing on ICT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"qtranxs-available-languages-message qtranxs-available-languages-message-pa\">\u0a2e\u0a3e\u0a2b\u0a3c \u0a15\u0a30\u0a28\u0a3e, \u0a07\u0a39 \u0a16\u0a2c\u0a30 \u0a24\u0a41\u0a39\u0a3e\u0a21\u0a40 \u0a2c\u0a47\u0a28\u0a24\u0a40 \u0a2d\u0a3e\u0a38\u0a3c\u0a3e \u0a35\u0a3f\u0a71\u0a1a \u0a09\u0a2a\u0a32\u0a2c\u0a27 \u0a28\u0a39\u0a40\u0a02 \u0a39\u0a48\u0964 <a href=\"https:\/\/newsmakhani.com\/en\/\">\u0a15\u0a3f\u0a30\u0a2a\u0a3e \u0a15\u0a30\u0a15\u0a47 \u0a07\u0a71\u0a25\u0a47 \u0a26\u0a47\u0a16\u0a4b\u0964<\/a><\/p><p><\/p>\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div class=\"innner-page-main-about-us-content-right-part\">\n<div class=\"text-center\">\n<h2>India-EU Joint Committee on S&amp;T Cooperation creates action-oriented agenda focusing on ICT, resource efficiency &amp; electric mobility<br \/>\n<span id=\"ltrSubtitle\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ReleaseDateSubHeaddateTime text-center pt20\">February 22nd<\/div>\n<div class=\"pt20\"><\/div>\n<p>The India-EU joint steering committee on science and technology has agreed to develop and\u00a0adopt a long-term strategic perspective for India-EU collaboration in research and innovation at the\u00a013<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Joint Steering Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation meeting hosted by the European Commission recently.<\/p>\n<p>The two sides\u00a0appreciated the achievements under India \u2013EU science, technology Innovation cooperation and decided to\u00a0create an action-oriented agenda which can be implemented within the agreed timeline at the meeting\u00a0co-chaired by Director-General for Research and Innovation of the European Commission (EC), Mr. Jean-Eric Paquet, on the EU side and Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, Professor Ashutosh Sharma.<\/p>\n<p>Taking into account the Joint Statement and the \u2018EU-India Strategic Partnership: A Roadmap to 2025\u2019, adopted at the EU-India July Summit, both sides have shown keen interest for possible cooperation on ICT, in particular, cyber-physical-systems (ICPS), including artificial intelligence and robotics, circular economy and resource efficiency (waste-to-energy; plastics; etc.), electric mobility and sustainable agri-food processing and so on.<\/p>\n<p>The important role of Mission Innovation to concentrate efforts on research and innovation to accelerate the clean energy transition, necessary for a carbon-neutral planet, was underlined, cooperation on health beyond Covid-19 pandemic areas through global fora was also reinforced. Both sides also underlined the cooperation on polar sciences and discussed future cooperation under Horizon Europe at the virtual meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The two sides reiterated their commitment to human capital development, including researchers\u2019 training and mobility, based on mutual interests and reciprocal promotion of each other\u2019s equivalent programmes, aiming at a more balanced flow of researchers between Europe and India.<\/p>\n<p>Indian side presented the key elements of\u00a0new Science, Technology and Innovation Policy (STIP 2020), which aim to create a fit for purpose, accountable research ecosystem promoting translational as well as foundational research; indigenous development of technology, technology indigenization; facilitating open Science; equity and inclusion.<\/p>\n<p>The Indian side proposed\u00a0Implementation Arrangement (IA) for co-funding future joint projects under India-EU Science, Technology, and Innovation Cooperation\u00a0to streamline the process of collaboration and to address certain issues on project evaluation, selection, funding, monitoring, and also\u00a0IPR sharing\/data sharing\/materials\/equipment transfer mechanism and so on.<\/p>\n<p>During 2014-2020, 42 collaborative projects amounting to a total of EUR ~157 Million funding (EUR 113 from H2020 &amp; EUR 44 from Government of India) have been funded. The majority of these collaborations took place in the form of flagship calls on water, a new generation influenza vaccine, and smart grids cooperation.
