More than 1000 officers have been conducting raids for power thefts in the big industries running in the State: Ranjit Singh<\/h2>\n

Chandigarh, February 27- Haryana Power Minister, Ranjit Singh while addressing a press conference here today said that since 4.30 am this morning as many as 236 teams comprising of more than 1000 officers have been conducting raids for power thefts in the big industries running in the State.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 “During the raids, more than 1100 cases of industrial power thefts have been caught.\u00a0 With these raids, the Electricity Board would be collecting a huge revenue of around Rs. 100 crores,” informed Ranjit Singh.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Minister said that the teams\u00a0who have carried out raids along with doing close monitoring\u00a0include,\u00a0 two directors of the power department, six\u00a0 SCs, Chief Engineer and XEN, JE and other officers and employees.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Ranjit Singh said that the raids have been carried out in industries running in five big cities including\u00a0 Gurugram, Dharuhera, Faridabad, Rewari and Hisar.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He said that large-scale raids have been conducted to catch power theft in the industries.\u00a0\u00a0Through these raids, the government wants to give strong a message\u00a0to the people of the State that power thefts will not be tolerated at any cost.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Minister said that in today’s raids many cases of power thefts through ‘Kundi connections’, irregularities in meter connections etc. have been reported. The officers have also been found involved in these power thefts.\u00a0 Strict action would be taken against them, said the Minister.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He said that more than 3000 kW of power theft was caught in this raid, which would bring down the line loss.\u00a0 Reducing line losses will improve power efficiency and consumers will get even cheaper electricity.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Minister said that for the first time in the history of Haryana, this kind of biggest action has been taken to curb power theft.\u00a0 This raid has been conducted based on long input received by the Government so that power theft can be stopped completely.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He said that the government plans to completely curb power thefts therefore consumers should pay their bills honestly.\u00a0 \u00a0This will increase the revenue of the department and will provide good facilities to consumers, said Ranjit Singh.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He said that large scale raids against electricity theft in industries will reduce power theft cases significantly.<\/p>\n
