Maximum Temperature Scenario for past 24 hours (from 0830 hrs IST of 28<\/u><\/strong><\/b>th<\/sup><\/u><\/strong><\/b>\u00a0February, 2021 to 0830 hrs IST of 1<\/u><\/strong><\/b>st<\/sup><\/u><\/strong><\/b>\u00a0March, 2021)<\/u><\/strong><\/b>\u00a0<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

Maximum temperatures were\u00a0markedly above normal(5.1\u00b0C or more)\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>at most places over Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand; at many places over Punjab, East Madhya Pradesh and\u00a0 East Uttar Pradesh; at a few places over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha; at isolated places over East Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh;\u00a0appreciably above normal (3.1\u00b0C to 5.0\u00b0C)<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0at many places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Chhattisgarh and West Rajasthan; at a few places over Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan & Goa and Telangana and at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan & Muzaffarabad and Vidarbha;\u00a0above normal (1.6\u00b0C to 3.0\u00b0C)\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>at many places over Marathawada and Rayalaseema; at a few places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh &\u00a0Yanam\u00a0and Tamilnadu, Puducherry &Karaikal; at isolated places over Kerala &Mahe and Karnataka. Yesterday, the\u00a0highest maximum temperature of 40.0\u00b0C<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0was reported at\u00a0Bhubaneshwar (Odisha)<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0over the country(Annexure 1 & 2).<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

Temperatures Recorded at 1430 Hours IST of Today, the 1st<\/sup>\u00a0March, 2021<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

o\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Akola (Vidarbha)\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>recorded\u00a0the highest temperature of 38.9\u00b0C (Annexure 3).<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

o\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Temperatures recorded at 1430 hours IST of today have risen\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>by 1-2<\/strong><\/b>\u00b0C<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0at many places overSub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Assam &\u00a0 Meghalaya; at a few places over Jammu & Kashmir \u00a0and at isolated places over Punjab, West Rajasthan, Saurashtra & Kutch, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Vidarbha, Tamilnadu and Odisha\u00a0(Annexure 4).<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

Heat Wave Warnings for Next 5 Days (on next page)<\/u><\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

o\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Maximum temperatures are currently 3-6\u00b0C above normal over north & central parts of India includes East Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, east Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal.<\/p>\n

o\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It is likely to fall by 1-2\u00b0C over Northwest & adjoining Central India during next 2 days (01st-03rd March). No significant change in maximum temperatures over rest parts of the country.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>Heat Wave<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

Heat wave is considered if maximum temperature of a station reaches at least 40\u00b0C or more for Plains, 37\u00b0C or more for coastal stations and at least 30\u00b0C or more for Hilly regions. Following criteria are used to declare heat wave:<\/p>\n

    1. b)\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>Based on Actual Maximum Temperature (for plains only)<\/strong><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      o\u00a0\u00a0Heat Wave:\u00a0<\/em>When actual maximum temperature \u2265 45\u00b0C<\/p>\n

      To declare heat wave, the above criteria should be met at least in 2 stations in a Meteorological sub-division for at least two consecutive days and it will be declared on the second day.<\/p>\n
